To the Sabres start:
Buffalo has had a pretty favorable schedule so far- 9 games in 28 days. Only Detroit and NJ could be considered "contenders" out of who they've faced. No Philly, no Pittsburgh, No Rangers, No Capitals and No Bruins. And no 3 in 4s.
They've done what they should have done this year, but I'm interested to see how this team does against a tough upcoming schedule and tougher competition:
November (13 in 30 nights, 3 vs Philly, 2 vs Boston, 1 vs Washington 3 games in 4 nights 4 times)
Plus, December is a brute too, basically going every other night.
I like what I'm seeing so far, but the next two months are going to be character defining months.
I think that's a pretty good list, although I probably wouldn't put Kiprusoff so high because he's so inconsistent, and he usually starts out slow every year because he comes to camp completely out of shape. The guy's still an absolute horse though, but that's Calgary's fault for pretty much having nobody behind him.
I think there's more than 5 elite goaltenders. I would go with (in no particular order)

those were my thoughts too. they started out with pretty much the same record last season and ended up shitting the bed in the middle of the season. i am really interested to see how they play against philly, pitt, and washington. i've been let down too many times by buffalo teams, so i try not to get too excited about anything anymore.

No mention of Thomas? Sure his window is gonna be short because of his age, but he won the Vezina last year.
Also Anderson was my best fantasy pick in years.
I thought about it, but I would put him in the second tier with guys like Giguere and Osgood and Theodore and Khabibulin. I think he peaked last year.
More injuries...Malkin's out 2-3 with a strained shoulder, Wings lost Valtttttteri Filppppppppppppula for 6-8 with a broken wrist.

The National Hockey League Players Association has suspended operations, according to radio station reports.
Toronto's 680 News and News 1130 in Vancouver are reporting that the association has ceased operations, including suspension of the union's duties and those of interim executive director Ian Penny.

Sorry Mudo. My Isles beat your Caps tonight. How about that John Tavares! Didn't give up on the play.
The Isles should have won by 4 or 5. An awful performance all around, especially the Mike Green epic fail that led to Nielsen's second goal.

Break up the Islanders! 3 Wins in a row. Blowing out the Sabres 5-0 last night. A Biron shutout and a Jeff Tambellini hat trick. Im not going to say we are a playoff team but will def be better then last year.
I don't agree with Staal on that list at all. The guy JUST turned 25, and his best years are ahead of him, and further, it doesn't help him that he's the only impact player on that team (and the only guy that can score).
In Sather's defense, at least he found someone stupid enough to take Gomez' ludicrous contract off his hands in Bob Gainey. Doesn't help that he went IMMEDIATELY spent that money on Gaborik (wouldn't it have been better to wait and see how the Kovalchuk situation panned out?)
Next year, they'll be paying Drury, Redden and Roszival a combined 18.5 million.
And where's Dustin Penner on that list? They paid him 4.25 to put up 37 points last year, and the year before that, they paid him 4.25 to put up a sweet 23/24/47 -12

Donald Brashear (another Sather gem...1.5 this year, 1.3 the next)
Roberto Luongo (just for the sheer enormity of next season...he's making 10 MILLION before it cuts back to a more reasonable 6)
Ryan Malone (on the hook for 6 million this year and next, plus 5 and a half the season after that)

I was very impressed by Danis' play for the Devils.
he picked up another win tonight and i love that Marty is actually looking like he's going to get proper rest this season. 2 nights off so far in the first 14 games

I know it was only the Trashers, but the Isles killed them last night. JT is one hell of a player. 2 nice assist last night. He has great vision and sense on the ice. I know the Isles will probably be a lottery team, but at least they look to be exciting this year.

Uh, yeah:
L 5-2 Philly
L 4-2 Bos
They gotta figure this out, cause I can't go back to watching football.
They're winless in their last 12 (2-11-3 overall), and have just lost Cam Ward for a monf with a cut leg.
How long before Paul Maurice gets the ax? Do they start blowing things up and selling off older assets?
Looking at their roster quickly, Ray Whitney (37), Matt Cullen (32), Scott Walker (35), Stephane Yelle (35), Joe Corvo (32), Niclas Wallin (34), and Aaron Ward (36) are all older players who will be UFAs after this season and could help teams looking to add at the Deadline for down the stretch.

Considering all the injuries the Devils are dealing with, they are playing great. Guys are stepping up and taking charge. There's a level of accountability on the team.
Clarkson looks like he will easily eclipse 20 goals. Green has stepped up and played great.
And I absolutely LOVE seeing elements of the trap again.
