We always went to the following while I was in elementary school:
1. Museum of Natural History on Central Park West
2. The New York Aquarium in Coney Island
Later, in HS, we went to Great Adventure and I was kicked out of the park for shooting off bottle rockets on the sky ride. God, I was an idiot.

We did the obligiatory Museum of Natural History class trip. And the Planetarium too.
Also in 6th grade we took a 3 day trip to some camp and 8th grade we went to Washington DC for 3 days. We also did the trip to Great Adventure as well. In high school my marketing class took a field trip to the Short Hills Mall lol
That's all I can remember

Senior year in high school we went on the now defunct boat ride up to rye beach- on the way back we threw the piano off of the rear deck into the Hudson River!
And 2 months later, half my class was in various bootcamps!!!!

Why oh why did we have to go to the Planetarium every year?! Sometimes twice!
Don't get me wrong, the Planetarium is pretty cool, I really like it, but that's because...I get high now. In elementary school I didn't.

I remember in 5th grade we went to Philly for the day. We had to save up all of this money to go. 1975/76.
Otherwise it was a trip to museum of natural history or the vanderbilt house.
In DC we would go to the Capitol half of the class would go to the bars. Come back all drunk.
We want Ron and Fez live in DC.

We never had ANY cool class trips, going to a school that has no $$ that happens. The only one that was even close to good was when I was in like 4th grade, to the Statue Of Liberty. That was cool.
I remember for 7th Grade french class we went to Hofstra to see the worst French movie ever, and on the way back we stopped at McDonalds. Of course me and my 4 friends being the cut-up asses we were, decided to throw ketchup doused fries at cars next to the bus, I got some man and women in a convertible, right in the hair, this other kid Hector, got some right in the cab of a large truck, well the guy tried to stop the bus and kick his ass. One of the funniest but most horrifying of my school experiences. I laughed at that for years. Sorry people.

Back in the 60's the NYC Board of Education wanted us to appreciate classical music, so we made many trips to the Brooklyn Academy Of Music to see live symphonies and orchestras. Only problem was that the audience was filled with kids from schools in Bed Stuy, East New York and Brownsville. They would steal our lunches, start fights and terrorize us.
Ever try listening to Rossini with some thug who was left back 5 times calling you a "honky motherfucker"? LOL!

The Bronx Zoo was also a class trip for me during the '70s. However, the real zoo at the time was located right outside the gates.
We used to stare out the schoolyard windows at the burning abandoned buildings of the South Bronx and be glad we were lily-white suburb kids from Long Island.

We had a geeky "Physics Day" at Great Adventure. We had to bring stopwatches and gizmos on the rides to record acceleration, g-force, etc. You have to be a really creative teacher to be able to take the fun out of a roller coaster.
By the way, "Free Fall" really isn't.
And the best part of any class trip was always the bus ride.

Most of my school trips took place in a van full of pot smoke. But in sixth grade I had the coolest teacher in Santa Monica, Ca, Mr. Hookstratten. Every month or so he would walk us all to the beach for boogie boarding and football games in the sand, and call it a field trip. We never got along with the kids in the other sixth grade class. Poor bastards.

I've grown up in D.C., so we went to all the historical stuff. The Smithsonian, ALL the monuments, the Holocaust Museum, Ford's Theatre, the F.B.I. building (I recommend the tour), the White House, the Washington Zoo, etc.
Plus numerous other stuff in Virginia. Stuff like Monticello, that type of thing.
And out of all of those places, seeing all of our national landmarks and historical sites, I can truly say the most entertaining place was the Zoo, because I got to see some monkeys actually eating their own feces.

Kindergarten we went to McDonalds and got to watch them make burgers. Talk about lowered expectations. Take all the innercity kids to Mcdonalds, since they'll probably end up working there any way.
