Is it constant pain, or does it build up as you've been typing?

Hmmm...that's weird...it could have something to do with it, you might want to get checked out just to be safe...maybe try a little sports cream or something and see if it works any...

You know, my right thumb feels stiff at times. Like there's a rod in it. Sometimes it will "jitter" while I dont move the other fingers.

Damn, that sounds like a Playstation injury...I'd get the worst pain in my thumb knuckle when playing hockey, espeially longer games...

Amy,,you may try improving your form when you type, it sounds like the beginning of a carpal tunnel irritation,,but you are young so you can stop it now before it becomes a problem that can only be fixed with surgery like carpal tunnel syndrome often is

it's as if you're under nny's house... yes you! nny only takes those who cause him pain. of course you do.
in other words, you are lost. there is no way out... or so it would seem.

Amy, the first thing you should try is avoiding computer use for about a week. At the end of the week just see if you have the same pain. It could be a couple of things, but that would be the simplest thing to test it. If you do go to a docor though, be sure to mention the amount of time you spend at a computer. So what is it, 13 hours a day?

I have carpal tunnel. I'm supposed to wear wrist shunts when i type. I just got diagnoses 2 weeks ago. I had shooting pains up my wrist and fingers (to the point where i thought i might have broken my wrist), and numbness in my hands and fingers. go to the doc and get hcecked out before it gets worse

I think I have it too. My hands cramp like I'm a dying replicant.

I used to get this alot. I used to have to do a great deal of typing at my old job. I would get that pains starting in the back of my hands and it would move up to the wrist. It would go away in time if i avoided the compute.......ACK! IT"S BACK! THE PAIN! THE PAIN!

Amy you probably do have carpal tunnel. I have it and my mom had it, but my mom had surgery on her wrist. I have to wear braces at night, and I wear them when its rainy, or cold out. I get shooting pains sometimes if I move my wrists the wrong way, or if I lift something to heavy.
You should get checked out though, and try not typing so much, or get the wrist rests. Good Luck!
