I just was flipping channels and came across an old Johnny Cash prison concert on CMT. Say what you want about country music, but the man in black transcends the genre. This guy was gangster long before gangster was cool. I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die
He is frigging awesome. Do yourself a favor and buy "Johnny Cash Live at Folsom Prison" or the album he did a few years ago on Def American Records.

I agree with you 100%, he was better than gangster he was pure badass. He was also was a pretty decent moralist.

Whoa, weird, I bought "Live at Folsom Prison" about two hours ago and just finished listening to it. It's great!
(btw, it's on sale for 8.99 at Tower)

A subject near and dear to my heart. I, too, love the "Man In Black", and have long felt that too many people have not been exposed to his phenomenal talent.
His last 3 albums produced by Rick Rubin are astounding, and some of the best of his career. Johnny rocks!

The man in black is the king. I cant believe he's 70 years old and still rockin. Folsom prison is a great album. The digitally remastered one came out last year. Someone once told me that that concert at Folsom is where the late Waylon Jennings, who was an inmate, first met Johnny Cash and it really kick started his career. Another album thats great is the recordings from the VH1 storyteller series with Johnny and Willie Nelson.

He really is fantastic. He's almost the perfect artist. Even his love songs where ambiguous. I walk the Line is a song that is closest to the truth about monogamy and infidelity.
Maybe i'm reading too much Joseph Campbell,

He's so great you can forgive him his mid-70's appearances on "Columbo". Forget Kid Rock, JC is the original American Badass.

Burning ring of fire,A boy named Sue, everything he did is classic. I have'nt heard anything in recent years, but he's a tie with Elvis in my book. And i'm not a C/W fan. Just love some of the back in the day artist like Johnny and Hank Sr. God don't make voices like them anymore.
GOD BLESS, ROMEO
