For all you evil dead SPECIAL SPECIAL EDITION DVD!! It comes in a case that looks exactly like the necronomicon, and it has a TON of special features, INCLUDING "within the woods" the original short film made by Sam Raimi which inspired Evil Dead.

It doesn't have "Within the Woods". They couldn't get the rights to it.

Sam doesn't own the rights to it. I think the original distributor does, or something like that. And it's just the first movie.

From what I've heard, the rights to "Within the Woods" are so messed up with red tape that we may never see the film.

I'm definitely getting the new DVD, though, since I'm a Bruce Campbell fan and I think ED is one of the greatest movie trilogies ever. Plus, even without the short film, there are some cool extras there.

I agree, ED2 is better than the first ED film. It's actually my favorite of the series, since it has the perfect blend of humor & horror, although AoD is arguably the most fun of the trilogy.

I like em both, because Evil Dead has lots of gore, but Evil Dead 2 is wierder.

they came out with an army of darkness that is called the directors cut and has an alternate ending and deleted scenes.

<p>This is a great edition of the DVD. Not only is the case the coolest EVER, but it has Bruce's documentary ''Fanalysis'' which takes a look at fans and fanatics. Interesting stuff. <p>Has anyone read his book, Confessiong os a B Movie Actor? Excellent read, a real motivator for anyone who has doubts about whether they can make it in the entertainment industry. <P>

I liked the book, "The Evil Dead Companion". It's a kick-ass behind the scenes sort of book.
