Suicidal candidate campaigns with noose around neck

A suicidal candidate is campaigning in an Indian election with a noose around his neck and a poison pill in his hand.

Arun Pathak is a candidate with the Shiv Sena party in the Uttar Pradesh state election.

He's made several attempts to kill himself in public. His campaign slogan reads: "I make sacrifices, so vote for me."

The United News of India reports that he became a national figure when a suicide attempt stopped film-maker Deepa Mehta from making a controversial movie.

Many people thought the film undermined the Hindu community and the city.

Pathak jumped into the Ganges after swallowing what he said was a poisonous pill in an attempt to stop the shooting of the film, called Water.

Fishermen found him unconscious but he recovered.

Reports say he may make another attempt on his life if he's not elected.

As TheGame said I wouldn't elect him just because i'd like to see this person die. Also if your campaign platform is "i didn't die" that's almost as bad "I'm a compassionate conservative" (easy, easy)
