I always had this theory that you need buffer time inbetween breaking up with someone and becoming friends with them. A friend of mine disagrees, b/c when we broke up, she thought we could/should have moved right to friendship, but it tooks months for me to feel comfortable with her without feeling guilt about initiating the breakup.

Am I right in the need for buffer time?

i think the amount of time you went out, and how serious the relationship was constitutes the amount of buffer time. When in doubt, buffer. It's a good plan to let strong feelings have a chance to fade or heal.

You a smart one.

...you're such a liar.. everyone knows it's 7 years 3 months 2 weeks 6 days 12 hours 57 minutes and 46 seconds before you can finally approach the subject of being friends again.. then it's totally up to the girl.. because in the end they rule those kinds of things anyway.

I heard a theory that for every month you went out for, it take 2 weeks to get over that person. But that's different. I'm not talking about getting over someone, but rather becoming friends with someone.

What is this "friendship after a break up" you speak of? Your ways frighten me!

So far my buffer time has been forever since I don't really believe in the friendship after breakup.

Never. You'll always be thinking about having sex with her again.

Friendship is not always an option. Sometimes it's more like "If I did'nt love you I would hate you". That's passion baby! LOL

I'ts possible , just not probable. In cases where the breakup is not mutual it's difficult to retain a friendship without one person possibly reading too much into things. It's usually better for both parties to break all ties unless they can both agree on the terms. My ex Steve and I get along great cause neither of us still wants the other. We go out together all the time and talk almost everyday. I can't say the same for most of my psychotic exes.. lol

Well that's what love is like. Makes your heart race, turns your world upside down. But if you're not careful, if you don't keep your eyes on something still, you can lose your balance. You can't see whats happening to the people around you...You can't see that you're about to fall... </font></marquee>
