The newer Popeyes: Brutus.
What do you call him, and why? For the record, he's Bluto. Thank you.

I like "Brutus". It gives Popeye more of a Caesarian quality.

Useless trivia: on "the Greatest American Hero", they briefly changed Ralph's name from Hinkley to Hanley after Reagan was shot.

The best I can think is that /maybe/ Brutus is his Christian name and Bluto's his nickname.

I prefer Bluto also. It's more historical. But I remember the Brutus cartoons more. I always watched those when I was a kid.

were it not for the character flaws of impatience and a violent temper, Bluto actually could have won in many of the cartoons! It's quite easy to start rooting for him.


If Bluto ate spinach he would be impossible to beat. He looked like a real party animal too. Someone who would drink, smoke, gamble, curse, and bang cocktail waitresses 2 at a time off camera
