What languages do you speak?

I was wondering if anybody here speaks any languages besides English, (though some of us don't even do that well.) I speak English and French. I'm also preparing for the day when Ireland can return to her roots so I'm learning Irish Gaelic. There is a Chinese learning center in the building where I work, so I may take that. Anyone else speak other languages?

I speak passable German, and a bit of Viet Namese.

I also studied Gaelic but I lost it since I didn't use it!

I speak some dirty spanish...
Basically most of the curse words, but do know hello, goodbye, and thank you in spanish and polish...
Then theres always the language of Love, which I'm still learning...

I taught high school Spanish, picked up a little French, and was able to learn enough Cantonese to make it around Hong Kong.

A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing. Apparently, the Cantonese word for "nine" is similar to to the word for "sex", and my phone number just happened to have three "sexes" in it.

Oh, and in parts of French Switzerland, a mispronounced "Nick" is slang for "Fuck". I was a big hit at bars.

TRUE STORY:

When I took German in college, we had to have a native speaker class. The woman who led the class made no bones about the fact that as a youth she was a member of the Hitler Youth in Germany. She said she had fond memories of it.

I should have taken a bat to her head.

When I was in Greece for my honeymoon I had a conversation with a guy who didn't speak English while I didn't speak a word of Greek. We both spoke very bad French and had a very nice, but uninteligible conversation.

Fluent in sign language because my parents are deaf.

I took Italian in high school and I remember 1 to 20.

I took Spanish in college, but I had a crush on some guy in class that I spent more time drooling than studying. Somehow I passed that class.

apart from english, i took spanish for quite a few years in shcool... the only thing i know how to say is "i have a fork in my head". it hasn't come in as handy as one might imagine, which i guess is a good thing...

I only know a few sentences in French, Hebrew & Spanish

I know Spanish and some French. I know simple greeting in German, Italian, Japanese. I understand when Chinese or Cantonese people speak but i cant speak it back.

I speak english, spanish ( i studied for 7 yrs) I took french for 2 yrs so i can read and understand it but my accent is awful from taking spanish. I can understand very little danish becuase my nana taught me how to count in it. Um I can also read portuguese and italian 'cause I took latin. Thats about it though.

I was in Italy a couple of summers ago...and all I did was say , "Tu hai il formaggio?"...

the people kept bringing cheese to the table.. it was great..

Yeah Chinese is weird like that. My French teacher told me the word for "mother-in-law" is similar to the word for "gorilla."

I'm seeing a lot of sign language people. They should make a universal sign language for all spoken languages.
