Myself and Figment were talking about various physical activities that we could all get together for...(being that some of us do a lot of sitting at the computer)...and a Softball team came to mind...What do you guys think?
When the spring starts...it might be a fun thing...Uniforms...Team mascot...Maybe we could play against OA.com...

JustJon and I were talking about this not too long ago. I put together the first OA.com softball game last year in South Plainfield, NJ. It turned out to be a pretty good event. The field was decent, you could drink alcohol, and there was a big fire pit that we cooked on. So if you guys don't mind it being in Jersey, I can find out the details again about getting the field and the alcohol permit.

one block away from my house... afetrwerds we can go to my backyard and make asses of ourselves... or.... there is a bar here mojitos... really good freaking place on weekends

As EMB said, I've already starting looking into an "Official" softball game, but hadn't talked to the other mods yet, so it's only gone into the checking details phase.

And yes, I want to do jerseys. Raven had looked into them for the OA.com game and had said about $30 per jersey, but I think that was without names/numbers. I will talk to him about purchasing through him.

No, we will <b>not</b> be playing against OA.com or any other messageboard. If members of other messageboards want to play, they are more than welcome to register with the board and say they want to play. (And perhaps bring something for the pot luck bbq)

And the field was a bit of a drive, but it was a nice field.

Hudson county park is a good place to play since they have many fields there. It is not designed like a stadium just many fields. I have a few trophies from playing on that field.

And thanks to those who have IMed me about info. So far, we're looking into fields (when we can start reserving them) and pricing out shirts. (No, buying a shirt won't be required to play)

ok, slight prob securing the field. It was a great field, but it seems they're claiming that there are soil problems. If anyone knows fields that will allow us to drink and bbq, please let me know.

EMB still rocks, and she still has a liquor license for fields in NJ, if it helps.

Hey Justice, I think I know this Staten Island team of which you speak...and my response would simply be: SLOW DOWN! Unless you're looking for an opponent for the Big Ass Night of Fights Part Deux, you had better watch your mouth.

As far as fields that allow drinking, I may not be a big fan of the Island itself, but Staten Island is crawling with Beer Leagues, and most are done with the fields by 1pm on a Sunday. And as long as you don't use "Miller Field", which is Federally Patrolled, you can have a keg on the bench...and we usually do.

If there is still room on a roster, I'm in...I would love to meet some of you and I'm always up for a ballgame. I'm a catcher (insert gay joke here)...but that's basically because I'm a fat bastard, I could play elsewhere, I'm just not all that agile. But I'm pretty decent with the lumber.
