My father, grandfathers, and all of my uncles were in the military.

That's probably what led me to join.

My dad wasn't allowed to serve. He was born with one leg considerably shorter that the other. He has to wear lifts in his one shoe just so he can walk without a limp...

My Father was part of the Canadian infantry, landing on Juno beach (to the east of the Americans at Omaha and Utah ) He lied about his age to join..I think he was only 15!
After the war, he returned to Western Canada, and served with the R.C.M.P. for 25 years.
Although my Mother wasn't in the Military, she was one of the first women journalists to cover part of the WW2, and she also worked as writer, based out of Britain, writing about the effect of war on families.

Pops was a Marine and fought in Vietnam. He was offered a college basketball scholarship, but he chose to join the Marines instead. Damn nut job.

Not my parents, but my grandfathers brothers:
Yes, it's the grandfather that's 87 and drives...
> His brother Arthur who is still alive had a Silver Star pinned on him by none other than Patton, he served under him in Africa, El Guettar and in France. He also has 2 purple hearts...
His other brother Everrett who volunteered was blown up inside a tank at the Battle Of The Bulge...
Arthur knows General Westmoreland and they still write each other...
Everrett is buried in Luxemburg Cemetary and from his grave you can clearly see Patton's grave, it's very close...

Dad was Navy radio-operator type, late '50's. Me and him are basically it for military service in most of the extended family.
