I usually respond to people who make these statements with:
There's more of the world that's good than bad, otherwise there would probably be no world left...
Think about the little things that humans do for each other...
Build Parks/Hospitals/Ball Fields/Building Codes such as Fire Alarms and Sprinkler Systems
Organizations such as Little Leagues/Police Dept/Fire Dept/EMT's that save lives every day/Schools-Teachers/Medicines are developed that save lives and stop disease and sickness...
Even a streetlight and stop signs, they help prevent harm...
There is alot of bad in the world that you can't forget about but don't dwell on it...
Honestly I think the biggest problem is Money, there are a few with too much and too many with not enough...
But in the US you have alot of opportunity, put your mind towards something and go for it...
