RPG suggestions for PS3

It's been awhile since I've really gotten into a video game. I've had a PS3 for over two years and I have only about 5 games. I mostly only play sports games and all that but I'm looking to get involved in a game that will take a bunch of time off of my hands and that I can get lost in. Any suggestions?

I don't feel right recomending Skyrim on anything other than PC, but that said its still fairly solid on console. I've got almost 300 hours and I've barely touched the DLC.

My friend lent me Skyrim and I never fully got into it. I'm not really sure why since I know there was so much to the game. The last RPG I really immersed myself in was Final Fantasy 7 and that's really dating myself.

I always thought those Fable games looked pretty cool but I never played them or anything.

I should also mention that I'm fine with the games being a bit older. Cheaper for me.

I think most of the Final Fantasy games are available on PSN for pretty cheap. FFX and X-2 HD are also coming out in like two weeks. I wasn't the biggest fan of X, but if you can get over (or enjoy) how silly it is X-2 was a lot of fun.

Skyrim is great.
Mass Effect 1-3
Fallout 3 and Las Vegas

Those are more action RPGs, the Knights of the Old Republic games might be out for PS3, I played them on PC, but they are really good turn based games.



Edited because I always say Bioshock when I mean Mass Effect. The Bioshock games are good too but arent really RPG, they just have RPG elements. Bioshock Infinite is worth playing a lot, though. It's the most successful integration of gameplay and story telling in anything I've ever played.

Skyrim -

if you like dungeon diving, killing dragons and finding things to make your armor and weapons better and stuff like that - all above are a blast.

These are older games that some may have finished already, but the HD remaster of Final Fantasy X and X-2 are released today for the PS3.

Dragon Age: Origins

You should play Mass Effect 1-3 regardless

FFXIII Trilogy is ok but annoying. As other people mentioned, picking up the FFX/X-2 HD remaster is a good play, but it's a bit dated.

Most of the good JRPGs are out on handheld now rather than console
