Is there any free proxy server service that allows you to view content that is restricted to national borders? Examples - CBC (Canada) has program on their website that can be viewed with a Java viewer - but only Canadians can watch them. BBC has a similar arrangement. Most of the CBC stuff looks like shite, but the BBC has some pretty good shows at times.

According to stuff I've read online, there's a software program called HIDE MY ASS that accomplishes this feat - but it costs around 80 bucks.

There also are endless lists of "free proxy servers" for various countries, but I'm pretty suspicious of those. However, there MIGHT be some legit ones - in theory, anyway, there could be working ones that are ad-based.

I'm interested in hearing from someone who has actually DONE this - not just read about it. There are a lot of claims being made out there - but I'm interested in whether anyone has had results.

Randomly had this sent to me the other day. Can't vouch for it.
