I never used it, but I know a couple people who did and they said it was awesome. But the FBI has seized the site and put up this picture:

I'm surprised it took this long. They weren't exactly quiet about it.

i guess they just figured all the tor network security would keep them hidden. From what I am seeing, the FBI got in deep enough to bust it when one of the users threatened that he would release the names of customers and the owner tried to hire a hitman to kill the person

I guess it must work occasionally, because people keep trying it, but it has to be the dumbest idea ever.

It seems like the only bust thats gonna happen from this is Dread Pirate Roberts because they can get him on the money stuff.
I know people who used it too and it's a little scary. Like drugs are drugs but the weapons and stuff were pretty iffy.

i dont know if you mean this or are sayin it as a goof to exonerate yourself, but incase anyone doesnt know:
Silk Road was an online black market on the Deep Web. It was operated as a Tor hidden service, such that online users could browse it anonymously and securely without potential traffic monitoring. The website launched in February 2011; development began six months prior.[6][7] Silk Road was an underground website[8] sometimes called the "Amazon.com of illegal drugs"[9] or the "eBay for drugs".[10] On 2 October 2013, Silk Road was shut down by the FBI.[11]
Before it was shut down, buyers could register on Silk Road for free, but sellers had to purchase new accounts through auctions, a policy that was purportedly implemented to mitigate the possibility of malicious individuals distributing tainted goods.
apparently they did around 1.6 billion in sales over 2 years, leading the owner of the site to earn a cool 80 million in commissions.
and honestly, i think they would still be gettin away with it if they didnt begin to let people sell weapons on there

Nope.. I honestly never heard of the joint.. I'm usually on the up and up of the seedy side of the net but somehow this alluded me..
I don't do any illegal drugs, prescription meds etc.. Hell I barely even drink and not a smoker... Probably why I never heard of the place.. No need for it.

it wasnt on the regular internet. It was Darknet on the Tor network. Basically an untraceable secret internet

Yeah i had to wiki what it was...doesnt seem that untraceable though. I mean they know how many transactions were done thru the site.
I once had my 360 chipped and it was awesome being able to play burned games. Then one day everyone that had it modded got a notice when you signed on to xbox live that the machine you were on was suspended for life. I realized the kid that was doing it was smart, but not smarter than MICROSOFT.
Kind of the same premise here. "Dread Pirate Roberts" (cute name) isnt smarter than the US govt.

Only going by Wikipedia, but it's says there it's deep web, which is apparently not to be confused with darknet

yea but you have to go on the darknet to get there. Its really confusing. Probably a main part of the reason I never tried to use it

i think they got most of that info after busting the guy. From what I read, it was infiltrated by them doing a few hundred buys through the site as if they were customers. Maybe they found a snitch
