TWA 800 is back in the news. some ntsa investigators are now saying the official report was a lie.

thoughts?

i never believed the center tank explosion story. the front of the aircraft was blown off, right along the seem. if the center tank blew, then the separation would have happened at the middle of the fuselage, not right behind the cockpit.

my favorite conspiracy theory about flight 800 comes from a co-worker of mine who worked for TWA at the time. He says that all TWA 747's only had three windows on the top deck. meaning that the reconstructed fuselage out in Calverton was a lie.

Now i've done a quick google search and actually i can't find a picture of a TWA 747 with more than three windows on the upper deck. but i find it hard to believe that the wreckage in that hangar was anything other than 800.

I don't remember this too well. When did it happen?

I remember it all being very suspect at the time. It's been many years since I followed the story. But yeah... I was never fully convinced it wasn't shot down.

It was around 1996 or 97. There was video footage that appeared to show something coming from the water at the plane. But it was explained that what was shown was actually debris coming from the plane DOWN to the water.

I'll have to look it up, you guys made me curious about it.

Here's a link to the Wikipedia article about the crash....https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TWA_Flight_800

I had always heard the Navy shot it down by "accident"

NTSB investigators coming forward to challenge the investigations finding is new.
