Contact lenses rock when you first get them, but that's before you know that they will ruin your lives.

Okey first of all, I started out with the 2 year ones, which you have to disinfect every night and enzyme clean every week. They were great....until of course I lost one. there goes 150 dollars right there to get a new one. Then of course, my other one rips...IN MY EYE! I was searching my eye for a full day before the final half of it came out from hiding next to my brain.

Now this losing and ripping happened probably 2 or 3 more times, before of course, I was upgraded to 3 month disposables, b/c my doc said i was wearing my other contacts too much.

THESE ONES SUCK! Not only are they the same price if not more than the other ones, I can only wear them for about 8 hours before my eyes start bothering me. And if there's any wind outside, forget about it..the dust drives my eyes nuts. Plus you still have to dysinfect and enzyme them...

And did I mention the prices of these dysinfectants/?!?! You have to get a new one at least once a month, and with getting a bottle of that, saline solution, and enzyme, it's about 25 dollars! I could get another cell phone for that price!

Now my retinal specialist I go to(that's a whole other eye story) tells me to wait 2-4 years and get the corrective surgery, b/c hoepfully by then some insurances will cover it and more will be known about it.

Contacts suck!

But they're still better than my glasses...I always would lose those. At least with the contacts they're in my eyes most of the time so I cann't lose 'em often.

Thanks for the memories, Supervixen, I almost forgot what a pain in the ass it was to wear contacts for 10 years of my life. I had laser surgery almost a year ago and now I'm spoiled with my perfect vision. :)

<marquee>I couldn't think of anything funny to put here in my sig, so I figured I would just make a marquee instead... When I think of something, I'll put it here... Maybe it will also scroll... Maybe I'll just have it sit here and look pretty... If I use different colors, it will enhance the beauty of it... Using bigger and smaller font size could be interesting also... IrishAlkey is a homo...

I, too, suffer with contact lenses only because I dislike the way I look in glasses. They really are a pain in the ass, and I have to constantly put drops in my eyes whenever I'm in a smoky bar or nightclub, or whenever it's cold or windy outside. And there's absolutely nothing worse than coming home dead tired at 3AM and realizing you have to go through the whole ritual of removing them and cleansing them before you can go to bed.

Hopefully Sunny's doctor is right, and in a few years the laser surgery is more accessible.

i love my contacts. i see so much better with them. You should try the two week ones. they're more comfortable, and cheap (if youdon't replace them for 4 months, like i do)

anna: you look much cuter with your glasses, though

i like my dorky glasses

First of all, to me, girls in dorky glasses are really really cute. So take that for what it's worth.

I had contacts for a while, and yeah, I saw better than I ever did in my life. Even with my glasses I can't see as good as I did in contacts. But, I have really sensitive eyes, and combined with the rituals involved with cleaning them, they became more of a hassle than they were worth to me. But here's the worst part. What my optomotrist failed to mention to me was, that occasionally people experience irritation from them, that actually causes a blister under the eyelid. And to combat that, your eye creates more mucous. And even if you stop using contacts, that never stops. So although it's been years since I've worn them, I still get a line of goo that forms up inside my eye. Had I known that, I never would have got contacts in the first place.

I'm just waiting until I can afford the laser surgery.

I been wearing glasses since I was 8 years old (I'm 24 now) and I tried contacts for about two years and I couldn't stand it. The solutions, and the cleaning every night, and I hadda be careful not to sleep with them on or they'd stick to my damn eyelids... it was too much hassle for very little return. Ultimately, I opted to just live with my glasses and a pair of prescription shades. Much cheaper in the long run, and far less hassle.

Yeah my contacts annoy me so much, they get all dry and itchy. Having lazer beams being shot into my is sounding better and better every day.

I got contacts about 4 years ago, after wearing glasses for a year and a half before that. I've never looked back - in fact, since I lost my last pair of glasses I haven't even replaced them. Luckily, my contacts rarely bother me, and the cleaning regimen I have to do isn't bad at all (basically, just drop them in the solution).

I found glasses to be much more annoying than contacts, and I'd recommend to anyone with glasses to at least try contacts!

Sice Black Irish's scrolling sig ate up everyone's replys after him, I hope I don't repeat anyone.

I had glasses since I was 6 and when I was younger I was really atatched to them because my vision is that horrible. I felt awkward without them.

When I was 14 and about to go to my first school dance, my mother took me for my first pair of contacts. It felt a little annoying, but the idea of not having my coke bottles was overpowerng any negatives. Of course, I still spent the night of the dance drinking cans of Mountain Dew and banging my head against the wall.

About 2 years ago, I developed a calcium deposit on my right eye contact and it scratched up my cornea pretty bad. The eye doctor I went to was going to put me in a "special"(expensive) pair because I had an astigmatism, but I would have to wear my beat up, knock around the house pair of glasses to work for about 2 weeks while my eye healed. During that time, all of my stupid chidhood insecurities came back because of those damn glasses. Whatever image I was able to build in the office just dissapeared. So with all of this going on, I decided togo to Dr. Filatov and have the Lasik Surgery. Best money I've ever spent, I've never been happier. The only problem is, he's now charging less then half what I paid and it's pissing me off.

Spoon, I met them all. I even made a couple of special visits because the doctor was so pleased with how my procedure went, he wanted me to speak to a few patients. I worked 2 blocks from his NY office so I was there a bit. Damn I'm shallow.

To all of you that where your contacts too much or fall asleep with them, don't say I didn't warn you! If you where them too much, you can develop blood vessels in your eyes b/c of the lack of oxygen getting to them, and then you have to take a 2 month break from your contacts. So be careful!

Sunny, as far as wearing contacts too much or overnight, it really depends on the person's eyes. My doc told me that I could put mine in and wear them for two weeks straight, overnight and evrrything, without causing a problem. The contacts are designed that way. I still take them out everynight just to save money though - they last longer that way.

I have the 2 week disposables and except for the cleaning (one bottle, unlike SunnyD), I much prefer them to glasses. I find that I see clearer with the contacts than with glasses, and would like to look in lasik eventually.

I also have a tendency to stretch and break glasses. I can also wear designer sunglasses now.

I've worn glasses for 6 years. I got my contacts 2 years ago, I have monthly ones that I can wear for 2 months. The cleaning its so bad, I only have one cleaning solution. My glasses are only $30 and my contacts are $90. I have a stigmatism so on my contacts there is numbers and letters you have to look for (that means it's the top) on the bottom is the number 14 and to the sides there is dashs. That is the only thing that pisses me off about them, cause I have to look for the freggin letters. I dont have any problems getting them in for taking them out, I only had a little trouble taking them out when I had tips on my nails, but it still wasnt bad. I only wear my contacts if I go out. I really dont have any problems with them...except sometimes they move and become blurry. I wear my glasses when I'm home, or if I drive because I can see better with my glasses. I want to have the lasik thing but I'd have to wait for awhile.

Their pretty cool, but it sucks wearing glasses if your sweating, what a pain!
