I've been thinking about this for a the past few days, and I wouldn't dare post it on my facebook or somewhere I'm not relatively anonymous, because it may hurt some of my friends feelings.

Am I the only one that really feels embarrassed about the way the U.S. responded, specifically the city of Boston to the bombing?

I mean, the fact that at around the same time a tragedy occurred in Texas that had exponentially more deaths than the event in Boston, and was largely ignored in comparison to the Boston bombing aside...

A MAJOR U.S. city COMPLETELY went on lockdown for several days because of TWO people (one of which was a teenager). What does that say about our resolve? Our overwhelming fear of terror?

Then, after ABOUT NINE-THOUSAND police officers basically stripped every civil liberty away from everyone in the city, they found two people, who didn't even leave the city. How is this a win?

I just don't understand what we're so proud of. The media turned this into a feel-good story the moment it occurred, and instead of being fearless, the ENTIRE CITY of Boston hid inside their shells until big brother handled the situation. And in the end, as long as we were able to sob and feel good about ourselves at a red sox game, everything was ok.
Exactly.

The whole thing is shitty. We didn't accomplish anything, we didn't win nothing. Just like September 11th. The terrorists are 2-0.

No warrant is necessary if there are exigent circumstances. Only a buffoon would deny that there wasn't an exigency in the neighborhood immediately surrounding the last known position of a person suspected of detonating bombs and killing innocents, killing a police officer, armed carjacking, kidnapping, attempted homicide on other officers who were attempting to arrest his brother, and known to have firearms and most likely more explosives and complete disregard for innocent lives.

Do people really think that SWAT and FBI were sitting around rubbing their hands together thinking about finding an 1/8 sitting on someone's counter when a homicidal maniac is loose?!

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with you, but let's just face this fact: this is the scenario where we throw away our constitutional rights.

Yeah, I can't think of any good way to compare them.

And as to the reaction in Boston as compared to in Texas: after the fertilizer plant blew, you knew that it was over, and it was time to start recovering from it. On the other hand, in Boston, you had God knows how many crazy assholes capable of doing something like that running around, quite likely to strike again. In fact, based on the amount of explosives that they did have and that they were using against the cops who cornered them Thursday night, you gotta think that they were going to strike again.

Completely different situations.

Knox, this post has really stuck in my mind since I read it yesterday. I'd agree there was an element of eminent danger in the Boston situation that NEEDED to be relayed as news, however, beyond that the news seemed to report just as much about some weird feeling of vindication Boston and the country was having when these guys were found.

I listened to sports radio this morning, and every show I listened to had a sports break that mentioned that Neil Diamond sang Sweet Caroline at the Red Sox game last night. Am I missing something? How busy is Neil Diamond that this is news? I REALLY, REALLY do not believe in conspiracies and IN NO WAY DO I BELIEVE THIS WAS ORCHESTRATED BY ANYONE BUT THE TWO SOCIOPATHS WHO WERE ACCUSED, but I think this event is evidence that the American people are willing to give up their freedom for safety, and will actually celebrate.

The ongoing discussion about making these guys enemy combatants scares the shit out of me. The discussion of this event limiting legal immigration scares the shit out of me. Ron really nailed it when he said Orwell's vision of big brother controlling us was only slightly off, because the government wouldn't need to monitor us, we'd just monitor each other. We don't want to be free. We just want to be safe.

I'm afraid in the coming weeks and months that the patriot act will have some new amendments to it or Congress will propose a new law on top of the already expanded security state

I'm not discounting the killings or massive amounts of injuries including dismemberments but a new colored ribbon on sports uniforms isn't convincing people who want to do harm to us a damn thing.

Not to sound anti law enforcement, I believe there needs to be police forces , however since 9/11 it's even local law enforcement that has become militarized along with DHS having MRAPs in the street.

After the 1st trade center bombing, which killed 6 and injured about 1000 lower Manhattan, specifically around the WTC didn't turn into the green zone like what Baghdad looks like

9/11 Changed everything. Sadly for civil liberties.

Thank you. I saw some jackass on facebook posting shit which (of course) came from infowars. It's just dumb. Why do these idiot Republicans like Graham and McCain want to twist and turn the constitution? Do they think he will be released on bail awaiting trial ?

Curious to hear what the wife has to say. From what I seen , she was non religious before meeting Tamerlan, her friends said that she cut them all off. Supposedly she met him at a nightclub. In no time she's wearing a headscarf and working long hours as a home health aid while Fatwah Freddie was planning an attack

Sounds like a case of Jihad me at hello

Or she was beheaded over heels for him

You actually got me to chuckle at that one WF.

What gets me about these 2 brothers along with many overtly religious people are they claim that they are pure but its the opposite. The Tsarnaevs were planning to go to NYC and party. Heard reports that one of them sold pot. Doesn't sound too Islamic to me

A couple of 9/11 Hijackers rented porn flicks the night before the attacks.

These Jihadists remind me of Televangelists who are against LGBT rights but they go cruising for men on the weekends.

New Hampshire state Rep. Stella Tremblay (R-Auburn) said Wednesday she would not apologize for suggesting the government was behind the Boston Marathon bombing.

“I am not a great writer,” she told the Londonderry Patch. “I am not politically correct. I was just pointing out the fact that there is a possibility that the government is involved. You know, in history, top down, bottom up, has always happened.”

When told that both Democrats and Republicans had called on her to apologize, Tremblay responded: “What am I going to apologize for, asking questions?”

Last Friday, Tremblay posted a Facebook message on Glenn Beck’s fan page that claimed the U.S. government secretly carried out the “black ops” Boston attack and that the suspect who was arrested was merely a patsy. The post linked to an Alex Jones video.

Well, if Alex Jones said it it has to be true. That guy never tells lies.

What happened in Boston is what happened on 9/11. Our intelligence fucked up. No conspiracy, just some inept work and things that slipped through the cracks.

No cover-up here folks! (http://www.globalresearch.ca/two-fbi-agents-involved-in-arrest-of-boston-bombing-suspect-dzhokhar-tsarnaevs-fall-out-of-helicopter-and-die/5336131)

Two members of the FBI’s elite countertenor unit died Friday while practicing how to quickly drop from a helicopter to a ship using a rope, the FBI announced Monday in a statement. The statement gave few details regarding the deaths of Special Agents Christopher Lorek and Stephen Shaw, other than to say the helicopter encountered unspecified difficulties and the agents fell a “significant distance.”Last month, the team was involved in the arrest of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings.

See, I think the picture is supposed to illustrate how a seemingly innocuous, average kid could be driven to do something so awful. And that "terrorists" don't necessarily have to all look like bin Ladin.

As for the people complaining with the false outrage, wouldn't you want to maybe read this to understand what made him do it? Wouldn't you want some answers/closure?

Agree. The Rolling Stone isn't glorifying him. They simply are trying to help us to understand how someone can go from high school student to terrorist.

Hitler made cover of Time

Despite the magazine's frequent statements to the contrary, the designation is often regarded as an honor, and spoken of as an award or prize, simply based on many previous selections of admirable people.[5] However Time magazine points out those such as Adolf Hitler in 1938, and Joseph Stalin in 1939 and again in 1942, and the Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979 have also been granted the title.

As a result of the public backlash it received from the United States for naming the Ayatollah Khomeini Man of the Year in 1979, Time has shied away from using figures that are controversial in the United States.

That's because we have become a society where people love to be a "victim" of something. The attention and celebrity is intoxicating. We saw it with the "9/11 families", the "Sandy Hook families", etc.
