North Korea, is this just tough talk? Sabre rattling? or will they launch a strike on the US?
PapaBear
03-29-2013, 09:07 PM
When have they NOT talked like this?
NK is either having a power struggle and Kim Jong-Un is either making a play to assert himself (unverified rumors are going around about desertions in the wake of food shortages) or NK is making a play to get in on that sweet rebuildin' money that everyone throws around after someone gets bombed the fuck out of

as far as I read, they cant attack us. They dont even have anything that could reach hawaii.
If they do anything, it will be SK. and i think China would shut that shit down anyway
They can't launch nuclear weapons at anyone for starters -- their munitions don't fit on their missiles.
The biggest threat, though, is the artillery hidden in mountains that can reach Seoul. That will leave hundreds of thousands dead if they're all fired in anger.
There's no threat whatsoever to American possessions and even if they have a successful ICBM (doubtful as to the accuracy of what they have now) AND if their nuclear munitions fit on the missile [i]AND/i] because it's just a single warhead with arguably simplistic countermeasures there's no real threat from that because it'll be shot down.
Basically, a shitload of Koreans will die in a war and Americans will have their warboners over it and that will be that.

The fiscal 2013 U.S. budget deficit will dip to $845 billion after four straight years of $1 trillion-plus deficits, the Congressional Budget Office said on Tuesday, largely because of higher taxes now being paid by wealthy Americans.
The CBO analysis, which will feed into Congress' bitter debate over deficit-reduction plans, assumes that $85 billion in automatic spending cuts will launch as scheduled on March 1.
It said the fiscal tightening from higher taxes and this lower spending will slow economic growth to an anemic 1.4 percent by the end of 2013, causing the unemployment rate to edge back higher.
In the New Year's deal to avert the "fiscal cliff," tax rates on income above $450,000 for couples were allowed to return to their pre-2001 levels. But the automatic spending cuts were only delayed for two months until March 1.
The economy will start to rebound in 2014 and fill federal coffers at a faster pace, according to the non-partisan congressional budget referee.
Even if Congress takes no further actions to cut spending or raise tax revenue, deficits will continue to shrink, reaching $616 billion in fiscal 2014 and $430 billion in fiscal 2015. The 2015 gap would be equivalent to 2.4 percent of U.S. gross domestic product at that time, a level that many economists view as sustainable.
So from 1.4 trillion when he got in office to 430bil when he leaves..
Yep Foxy.... I see no difference here....
But hey, I guess its easier just to say and write shit instead of learning the facts

How naive can you be? Does that even take into context if theres a total Eurozone collapse or some major event here?
I'm going to address this again....... A large chunk of trillion dollar deficit is due to the wars being put on budget. Thought I was not going to bring that up?
Also the downturn in the deficit wont be for long
" But deficits will rise steadily from mid-decade, nearing $1 trillion again by 2023, according to the forecast. The 10-year cumulative deficit is forecast at $6.958 trillion.
“Deficits are projected to increase later in the coming decade, however, because of the pressures of an aging population, rising health care costs, an expansion of federal subsidies for health insurance, and growing interest payments on federal debt,” the CBO said in the report."

North Korea officially has no one on their side.
The United States and China agree that the Korean peninsula must be denuclearized, top diplomats from both countries said on Saturday.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and China's top diplomat, State Councilor Yang Jiechi, made the comments following meetings between the two sides in Beijing.

It'll be interesting to see how Kim Jong Lardass responds to this. I would guess that a big factor in how he deals with things is the assumption that China will have their back. But China appears to be as sick of their shit as anyone.

I just have a feeling that if Dubya was President through this, he'd do the whole dick-wagging "axis of evil" bullshit and only make the situation worse. The Obama Administration has played this so perfectly. They've made it clear that North Korean aggression will get a response, but they haven't stepped over the line to do anything that looks provocative on their own end. So it's become impossible for anyone to back North Korea in this. Shit, even Fidel Castro criticized North Korea over this. North Korea's standing there with their ass hanging out over this.
