View Full Version : It just occurred to me, there is no website for R&F , O&A

I mean, I've been well aware of it for many years, but it really just occurred to me how fucking lazy it is. I turned on 202 and thought "Yay another comedian talking about how women are all bitches." Then I thought, "Hey, that sounds like Patton Oswalt, he's way too alternative to be misogynistic," so I said "I'm gonna look at the O&A website and see who's their guest today," but then I was like "Oh yeah, they don't have a website, ever since their old website, which was named after a defunct, unknown industrial band, went away because it was actually the property of an ex-employee," so I says "Well that blows, but I guess I'll subject myself to the horrendousness of twitter and see who the guest is," and all of a sudden I'm like "Holy Shit! Opie's twitter doesn't say shit about who's on today," so then I start thinking "It's weird that you can't see what their lineup is for the day, like every other radio show does," but then it occurred to me that "My favorite show, R&F doesn't really have a site either," and then I was like "Well they have the Interrobang, but that's just weird because it doesn't even mention R&F and it doesn't even mention radio in general," but then to clarify I said "I mean don't get me wrong, I like the interrobang; it's a cool idea, but it doesn't really serve as a radio show website," after which I did some research and exclaimed "Oh, snap! Every other radio show has a website named after and dedicated to their show," and to further expound on this topic, I ejaculated "Look at this list of the most listened to radio shows on wikipedia, all of those shows have a website where a devoted fan can check in and see show rundowns, upcoming guests, photos and videos, all in one convenient place," but then I stopped and thought "Wait a sec, why am I surprised, this is the channel that plays the same terrible celebrity interviews from the week all weekend long," and I elaborated "...but that's probably not a big deal because it's not like one of the largest demos for satellite radio, people who drive for a living, such as truck drivers, delivery drivers, taxi drivers, police and other public safety, are driving on the weekends," but then I concluded "Well that's kind of off-topic, so to get back to my original point, I guess the show that brags about having one of the first radio show internet presences based on Anthony's early computer geekery, and the other show that debuted as an internet-centric show named RonandFez.Com probably don't need websites like every other radio show on the planet."

If someone were enterprising or they just wanted to stick an intern on it they could make a twitter name as a news feed that basically just sent out "patton oswald on now." "call in with your better headlines about Manti Te'o" "discussing this video." Etc.

For me its discouraging because I think in Ron's heart he doesn't care about promotion any more.
O&A even worse, they hate management, make millions and complain.
Anthony used to be the funniest impressionist ever, and Opie did orchestrate a great show.
I no longer listen to O&A, for me Imus, Dan Patrick and Tony Kornheisner are on my iphone until ron and fez.
Ron is the greatest radio host ever. I wish he went on o&a more because ron is generally happy when he was on there.
3 heart attacks and still fez lives..damn...but I think ron and o&a are just clock punchers.

But most importantly....the callers were so much better in 2000-2001. The callers absolutely kill this show. Even worse than fez.

I agree with this thread. It sucks so much and in many other areas too. I blame the corporate idea of radio more than the individuals themselves...to some extent. Hosts are still the ones that dictate a shows content and direction when in the studio. Not with free reign as was once the stalwart of both shows. amazing that with FCC issues, the show did so much more edgy stuff. girls, drinking, gay guys having sex with women, some guys being drunk on the air...allegedly. Late night partys...all gone....corporate. I guess the pay is really really good. For an audience it sucks but the people we listen to, do have rsponsibilities that go far beyonda bunch of unhappy listeners posting on MB's. They are all ( well almost all) with families and mortgages and all that fun stuff.. The Cowboys from the wild wild west type of radio has rode off in to the sunset.
(now thats an analogy? hyperbole? simile? maybe even an onomatopoeia???

I wish I feel comfortable elaborating more, but don't blame the hosts as much as you might think for everything. when it comes to the complaints about show stuff outside the studio, they may have their hands tied more than we realize.

Still at home going back to get my CDL...again...and giving up the ship called radio...and it sucks.

Billy...I have a hard time calling myself Staples sometimes. He sometimes feel like he's dead...sometimes. Besides, I doubt the Staples could drive a garbage truck. Oh man that so sucks just saying that. POTD back to CDL

to the old guard here..seeeee-ya
(the real seeeee-ya always had 5 e's....fyi trivia)

Perhaps, and I'm just spit-balling here, neither show has an official on-line presence because it would be a measureable metric of just how pathetically small their respective audiences have become?

Nah...

It amazes they can't get an intern to maintain a website.
What did o&a to lose the interns?
I don't listen to o&a any more.
My drive to work is like 20 mins and most time o&a on a break or complaining about management.

Interns don't stick around way beyond their internship like they did in the pre-Sirius days. It would be pretty much impossible to expect a constant rotation of new interns to learn how to maintain the website, while learning the other actual "radio stuff" that they're supposed to be doing.

They made fun of Blind Stevie. They lost their interns for only about a semester or two.

The closest they've been able to come to is The Interrobang. But I think that really just generates content for them more then anything else.

I think this site has become a shrine for the show as it was in the old days.
