The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D

While I hate the idea of this being in 3D and the plot sounds weak I can never get enough of this theme.

Sure there have been some clunkers in the mythos but I still dig them.

After reading the full synopsis and learning of the " twist " I swore that I would not pay to see this.

Not in the theater and not On Demand.

I was going to wait for it to come onto cable or Netflix. It finally made it's way onto Netflix last week.

It followed exactly the synopsis that had been leaked months before it came out.

The sad part is that it sucked.

It took everything that was wrong with the other sequels/versions ( excluding the remake which I very much enjoyed ) and jammed them into the same movie.

Characters were predictable and totally unlikeable with the exception of the sheriff ( but even his character joins the dislike group at the end ).

The gore made it somewhat tollerable but wasn't enough to overcome the awful plot.

As disappointed as I've been in a movie I badly wanted to see since Godzilla.

The Hollywood understanding of sheriffs that I''ve complained about in the past ( they make it seem like a sheriff works for a town when in fact they work for a county which is made up of several towns ) reared it's head here and made the storyline that much more ridiculous. And not just because he was a black sheriff in rural Texas in the 70s.

Trying to make Leatherface a sympathetic character while he's killing innocent people is just plain ludicrous.

If you're a fan of the TCM mythos you should watch it but you'll be disappointed. It'll make The Next Generation seem as good as the original.
