I was surprised that the "messaging" from this convention seemed surprisingly sloppy compared to the usual laser-like propaganda they emit. All of the speakers seemed to be pushing their own agenda rather than selling the product. I thought the only speech that was any good was Rubio's. I don't know who is runnning Romney's campaign but I suspect it is corporate types associated with Bain rather than the rabid pros from the Fox/Rove/Koch Bros.-financed circle of Hell. Those guys know how to control the narrative; Romney's crew are leaving gaps where the whipped curs in the mainstream press feel confident enough to actually uncurl from the fetal position and ask some impertinent questions of Team Mitt.

The conventions of both parties have been dog n' pony shows since the '70s (the last one that had any potential to be contested in any way was the 1976 Republican Convention, since it appeared Reagan might get enough delegates to deny Ford a majority.) They knew what that vote was going to be before they took it.
