What's the best way? I'm gonna try it tomorrow but like most of my cooking I was just gonna try shit out until I found something that worked. Do any of you know a good method?

A common mistake, but you end up with pissy hash browns.

I think the joke there would have been 'shitty hash browns' but we all can't be Crispy.

I thought shitty hash browns would be redundant.

shredded hash browns, i assume (as opposed to home fries)?
soak the shredded potatoes a few times to remove the extra starch, then dry them as much as possible. a salad spinner works well for this, but it takes some time.
i prefer butter instead of oil. much better taste.

The best way I have found is to induce a maillard reaction.

yeah, drying is the most important part. even if you don't soak them, there's still so much extra liquid in the potatoes. i'd say wring them out with paper towels or a tea towel.
i'd also say go with butter over oil.
