In these days of GM/pink slim/irradiation hysteria on the consumer side, and farm subsidy corruption on the producer side, does in vitro meat have any chance of catching on?

Semi-related anecdote:
I was chatting with my grandma a couple months ago when the pink slime controversy was in the news. I was explaining how they took the the trimmings and bones and gristle and stuff and tossed them into a machine that heats it up and spins and extracts all the remaining edible bits.
She thought for a second and said, "We used to do that all the time. We called it 'making soup.'"
 Good point, grandma.

So the world would be 9 billion people by the year 2050 and 9 billion animals because we stop eating them...
Good idea.
Lets all be healthy but not be able to move from all the cow shit.
Give me 80 years of delicious meat instead of 150 ears of lab meat and cow shit.

I can never tell if you're trying to be funny, or just don't comprehend things.

Imagine my disappointment.
