Author and illustrator Maurice Sendak — who crafted so many of our childhoods with his fantastical books Where The Wild Things Are, Outside Over There, and In The Night Kitchen — has passed away at the age of 83, reports the AP. The famously outspoken Sendak claimed that he was an author, not a children's author, full stop.
