50 years. 2 World Series titles. I've been a fan for 32 years and saw 1. Why, oh, why am I a Mets fan? Oh, right, I liked the name Mookie.

Let's go Mets!

I was really hoping they would have been forced to sell. This team single handedly made me start watching English Premier League. I literally have nothing to look forward to with this team. What an embarassment.

Of course they are. So just for the hell of it i type 2 tix, best available. I could get 3rd row behind home plate for a mere 930 FUCKIN DOLLARS! Are you shitting me? Who pays this shit? Its an afternoon game against the Nationals. For almost a G my kid should be able to throw out the first pitch.

And trust me I wasn't being some homer, as Halladay was gone from the Jays already and even so, Halladay had better stats everywhere BUT wins and it was fucking still the first half of the season...in which I believe Halladay ended up winning the fucking CY (one in each league now) and I stated even IF PELF was better right now, he had to go a LONG time at an elite level to get on that level. Very few do it, much less with perfect games, playoff no-hitters and season after season of dominance. He's clearly my fav so I am biased, but it's truly bc he's such an amazing player, worker, leader and good guy overall. I'd love to see him get a ring, but it honestly doesn't look that good right now in Phily...and I base it on their O, not their pitching clearly. Unless they can pull a SF 2010 all over again.

Am I being spoiled by this 2012 Mets team?

I became a Mets fan 30 years ago when my dad took me to Shea for my first baseball game. We had gone to NY for a summer vacation. He wanted to take me to a Yankees game, his childhood team, but they were on a road trip, so, to Shea it was and from that moment they were my team. A year later cable TV came to my neighborhood and instantly WOR became my favorite channel. I'd watch the Mets play every chance I could. WWOR was removed from my cable service in 1993 when it was no longer considered a superstation like WGN and WTBS. My only chance at watching the Mets play was when they were against the Cubs, Braves, or on ESPN. Because of that, I sort of lost interest in the Mets and this was about the same time when I started working for a Phillies Minor League team. While the Phillies never became my team, I couldn't help but root for many of the players that went on to the Major Leagues.

When interleague expanded to the different divisions playing each other, I said "fuck this sport" and basically stopped watching/caring about baseball.
It was cool to see the Mets vs. Yankees and A's vs. Giants that first season interleague was introduced, but when it went to the Padres vs. Royals, I was finished.

All these years later I've decided to come back to baseball, mainly because of the affordability of MLBtv. Prior to the season I heard bits and pieces about how the Mets will be awful this year, likening them to their inaugural season 50 years ago when they lost 100 games.
I'm going in to this season just like I did in 1982, not really knowing their past, just enjoying the present and looking to the future. Now I do know that the Mets made it to the World Series in 2000, but have no idea how good/bad they've been since.

I've watched all 8 games this season and liked what I've seen so far. I'm learning all these players names. David Wright was the only position player that I recognized. At first I initially would flashback to the 80s when a player wearing #'s 2, 4, and 9 would show up on screen. Instead of Justin Turner, Mike Nickeas, and Kirk Nieuwenhuis wearing them respectively, I'd instantly think I was seeing Kevin Elster, Lenny Dykstra, and Gregg Jefferies.

After starting 4-0 I was very impressed. Then David Wright broke his pinky and the Mets seemed like a lost cause without him. They did manage 1 win while he was out, but it was that same game where their catcher was thrown out at first after a successful sacrifice bunt. It was a blunder like that that made me think "okay, maybe this is what I'm to expect this season.'

I know it's way too early, but this is a fun Mets team to watch. Or, maybe it's just the announce team of Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling that makes it so enjoyable since they reference many instances which I fondly remember. One thing I have learned from watching these Mets games is that Keith Hernandez is not a Just for Men user.

Baseball is fun for me again and tomorrow I'll be hoping for that sweep against the Phillies.

Nah, they have/are fazing out the black unis. They wear pinstripes for home at night, snow white ones for home day games, greys on the road. And they should be incorporating a blue alternate uni officially next year. They wore it last year with "Los Mets" on it.

what does it matter in the end if they won't spend any moving forward to replace them?

and Johann has in the least gave the team some great/good years and of course moments

I'm sure most fans would say finally getting a no-hitter would be a HUGE value in this whole thing, especially since most of those years winning it all wasn't really even on the table.
