As an Atheist I love shit like this.

Movies like this and Jesus camp do a better job of blowing the shit out of religious hypocrisy then any outspoken atheist could ever do.

maybe it shows the hypocrisy out of whatever "Christian" Church supports it but not religion as a whole. Atheism gets blown out of the water with a calendar.

Mitigate all you want but all christian religions at the end of the day believe in Christ and use the bible to support these beliefs.

And why the quotes around christian in your post?

What am I mitigating?

The quotes are there because I don't recall reading Jesus advocating this manner of spreading the word of God.

I will bet you a million dollars that these people use the bible to justify their actions and will quote scripture and verse when asked to do so

I won't take that bet. Its pretty obvious they do.

I will, however, bet you a million dollars that it takes exactly the same amount of faith to be an atheist as it does to be one of those nutjobs.

Im guesing you mean the part about faith?

First I will say I am dubious about most people claiming to be Atheists but that is more about my concept of what a "God" means. But this pretty much sums it up:

God(s)/No God
50/50

There is probly a better thread for this if you want to go further but I will say that I am a polytheist. Time and Space, Light and Dark, Fortune and Fame are a few of them.

we're kinda close on our beliefs,i envy the people that think theres an old bearded dude sittin up on clouds because they have a picture in their minds about what a higher power is,to me its just a universal belief that i'm not God and theres something greater than me all around us

plus i dont want to die and find out i was wrong and am going to hell

“What I have a problem with is not so much religion or god, but faith. When you say you believe something in your heart and therefore you can act on it, you have completely justified the 9/11 bombers. You have justified Charlie Manson. If it's true for you, why isn't it true for them? Why are you different? If you say "I believe there's an all-powerful force of love in the universe that connects us all, and I have no evidence of that but I believe it in my heart," then it's perfectly okay to believe in your heart that Sharon Tate deserves to die. It's perfectly okay to believe in your heart that you need to fly planes into buildings for Allah.”

Jesus camp. that's what i meant, not Jesus land.

What i don't understand is why doesn't the kid cause a ruckus on the plane so that he gets kicked off then can't go to the DR?

I ain't here to argue about his facial features. Or here to convert atheists into believers. I'm just trying to say the way school need teachers the way Kathie Lee needed Regis that's the way yall need Jesus.

faith is one thing, action is another.

isn't it ok for a person to have faith (or not have faith) in whatever they please, no matter how objectionable it is to another person, as long as they don't act on it in a way that hurts others?

he seems to have mixed up the two (faith and action) to try to...what - discredit the faith of any given individual? i don't get it

yes you are right faith and action are seperate from each other

but theyre using their faith as a reason for their actions and the point i think penn is trying to make is that no matter what your belief is you cant say that good faiths and beliefs are there without the bad ones
