As discussed in another thread, everyone has camera phones now and people love taking pictures of your food. Post those here. And discuss what you're shoving in your fat face.
It's also entirely possible this thread already exists, but between Country Bob, Snacks and me, we don't feel like looking.

Is Keto like the Paleo diet?
The goal of keto is to get your body in ketosis by eliminating nearly all carbs.
So I think paleo is mostly compatible with keto. You'd just have to keep fruits to a minimum.
I haven't bothered reading too much about it. All I'm really doing is just not eating carbs. It's simple as fuck and I'm able stick to it (for the most part). I started right before Thanksgiving, thus I've had several days where I've eaten a bunch of pie and cookies and shit, but nevertheless, I've dropped a couple of belt notches in that time.

Those ARE just ridiculous. If you can't eat it as a sandwich, what's the point. It's all about balance. Over-stuffed is great, but at a point way before that one it just becomes absurd.
And keto sounds just like that silly Atkins nonsense. You need to lower your calories, period. If you eat 3000 calories of pure protein daily, you still will get fat.

And the link explains that corned beef & cabbage is a traditional Irish dish.
Perhaps the most common form, while it is a traditional Irish dish, it is by no means considered a national dish in Ireland. Corned beef and cabbage has been an integral part of Irish-American culture since the mass emigration in the mid 19th century. What was an extravagance in their native land became much more accessible and to this day is the dish of choice on Saint Patrick's Day.

If you eat 3000 calories of pure protein daily, you still will get fat.
That is NOT true
if you are substantially overweight
and you eat 3000 calories' worth
of ONLY protein and fat
the pounds will melt away rapidly
the problem is, besides being unhealthy,
once you go off an atkins-type diet
the pounds come back on as rapidly
as they went off

While it might be true that corned beef & cabbage is a very Irish-American thing, it doesn't originate in Ireland. The traditional meal is ham & cabbage. The corned beef was just a more affordable meat for the early immigrants so it just became somewhat of a standard.

in america maybe. but for ireland, you have that backwards. in ireland they use ham and cabbage cause ham was cheaper back in the day than corned beef was over there. Thats why in the link, it says corned beef was more an extravagance, and thats why most people dont eat it there. But originally, meaning wayyyy back in the day, it was eaten in ireland by the families who could afford it

Hmm... never really noticed the difference in thickness. They have some real thin crust NY style down here, but there are places like that in Boston. it isnt about that. Its really fuckin weird. All the Bagel shops in Florida that are good actually import water from here to use to make shit. there is something in the water here that makes it that good. Bread too.
If you are down around like georgia, even if you open a place, you will never find any good bread.
I dont know what the fuck it is, but you cant get it that good away from here. even people from here who try to leave and open shit, its just never like up here.
Oh, so you'll send water to the fuckers in FLA and Boston, but somehow you can't or WON'T send it to Alabama? And I know that was NY water being used at that fucking place in Laguna Beach I was at out in Cali too.
Fucking conspiracy, man.

the transplanted person has to order the water themselves. so maybe no one from up here moves to bama? you can do it. have a water installed in you location, call up a company that transport water somewhere up here preferably newark nj. i know i know but for some reason newark has some of the best water. have it shipped monthly and there you go, the start of the best new business idea in bama. add some local favs to the menu and you are a rich man.

really? i have always liked the food in boston. i would easily rank it top 5 in my places to eat and the only places ahead of it would be nj and ny. i still remember the 1st time i ate boston seafood it was at legal seafood. wow that was some of the best shit ever. i liked that the one we always went to had 2 places in 1. the 1 side was very nice and you had to dress up the other side which was attached and feet away you could look like a slob and go in and just enjoy a great meal. no matter which one you went into you were going for a huge bill but it was worth it. when i heard they were opening 1 in nj i got all excited. i then found out it was going to be in the mall and they were opening many. i knew it wasnt going to be the same. turns out it isnt. its more like a franchised, chain type of place that is luck to use the legal seafood name but the quality and menu doesnt match up to the originals in boston.
there is also a really good seafood, clam chowder place right on a pier in boston. i think its right in the cuty itself but i cant remember the name of that place. anyway the chowder is to die for. i would order it overnight right now if i could.

Pizza Hut using Newark water isn't going to cut it.
It's gotta be someone who knows what the fuck they're doing, and that aint me.
Chances are, if a decent place did open up, the cheap fuckers around here wouldn't pay for the quality, and I can't sustain a business on my own. (Although I'm trying like hell with a "pittsburgh" pizza place right now)
See, that's why I'm tryin to spread the word to get more of you bastages to start retiring in Gulf Shores.

My chick tells me all the time that I should open up a place... but I don't know dick about making pizza crust and stuff.
A guy that used to work for me just opened up a place around the corner, but it's the usual southern junk. Still, if that dipshit can make a restaurant work, that gives me hope!
And, yeah, that couple from Pittsburgh are doing well, and it's catching on, even with a somewhat shitty, out of the way location. Tells me maybe these hayseeds are open to some new ideas anyway. And they are in no way the cheapest option for pizza and sammiches, and people are still showing up.
And I'm kidding about having to sell Gulf Shores. That place is growing every year, and some of those folks have to be from the old neighborhoods. There's gotta be a market for it already.
Some lucky fuck is going to make a killing. There's a couple "Chicago Pizza" joints that have survived, but it's just not the same.

I don't hate ALL bama fans. I live and work amongst them, so we have to get along... most of the time. Most UAT grads are great. It's them "other" ones ya gotta watch.
I wish it was all sweet and nice like in the commercial... and that they only said that to each other.
But when you get a drunk redneck screaming "ROLL DAMN TIDE" in your face because you walked into a bar wearing another school's cap or polo? It's too much.
Like the tree killer said... some of them just "have too much bama in them".

I made these last night and they didn't come out looking nearly as good, but they were delicious. Take some left over risotto (I had chicken, mushroom, and asparagus risotto), separate one egg yolk and add it to the risotto, mix in some parm cheese. Fry em up in a little olive oil and......
BAM!!! fried risotto cakes.

I had a steak pizzaiola sub from Defonte's (http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/3/25834/restaurant/New-York/Red-Hook/DeFontes-of-Red-Hook-Brooklyn), but I didn't take a picture of it (it was delicious, though).
Here's the roast beef and fresh mozz sub I had from them the other day though :

I'm dating an Argentine that lived in Bolivia for many years, so he takes me to all the good places or brings me lunchies. Silpancho is my FAVORITE, I can eat it everyday, or trancapecho, which is silpancho on a sandwich. I'd post bikini pictures, but i'll just say this has thankfully done no harm to my waistline. YAY, FOOD!

didnt know where to post this so I figured why not here?
Today we were talking about candy bars and granola bars from back in the day. There was 1 that I couldnt remember the name maybe one of you guys could help. It was like a granola bar, soft but it wasnt a flat rectangle it was more like 1/2 inch round and 3-4 inches long. It was a chocolate in the middle then covered by something that was the color of granola but might not have been granola. Usually came in a box of 8 or 10 and individually wrapped just like granola bars!
I know that is so vague but I cant really think how to describe it.

The institute of medicine says obesity is so out of control we need to shift from personal responsibility (!) to government measures to fight it. These measures include soda taxes amongst other measures. I hear WF is strongly in favor of this move.

The very first paragraph was intereting.
More than six decades ago, when the federal standards on the strength of airplane seats and seat belts were written, government regulations specified that seats be designed for a passenger weight of 170 pounds. But now the average American man weighs nearly 194 pounds and the average woman 165.
First Im shocked that the avg man is still less then 200lbs. I was even more shocked that the avg woman only weighs 29 pounds less. Thats not as big a gap as I thought it would be especially when men have more muscle and muscle weighs more (or thats the old saying) and the avg difference in height between men and women is roughly 6 inches.

The sundae sounds great. I don't know why it should be any stranger than having a sundae with some crunchy pretzel pieces on top. Salty and sweet works.

Agreed, I like a nice peanut m&m, chocolate covered pretzel, etc., but I don't get the use of salted meats. To me it's like having a nicely peppered & salted steak....a la mode. Or a prosciutto sundae. Doesn't make me say "yummy!" Just my 2¢.

I was watching a thing on Fair foods on the travel channel over the weekend, and one of the things that stood out was the chocolate covered bacon (on a stick, of course) with a bit of coarse ground salt sprinkled on the chocolate.
It looked and sounded delicious.
And way back when R&F first talked about the now-famous Luther Vandross "burger donut", I have to admit, I was intrigued then too, although I've never sought one out.

I tried that at a bacon and beer festival this year, but the bacon was undercooked and the chocolate too melty. It wasn't particularly good.

There's plenty of overweight yet not 200 lbs men out there
Plenty of in shape or in the middle shape men under 200
But yeh with all the pro athletes and morbid obese people I woulda thought it wulda been over 200
For women I think it's a combo of the crappy food we eat and more women in workforce usually a sedentary job and not home running around house chasing kids
