Christopher Hitchens may/may not have some 'splaining to do (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/16/arts/christopher-hitchens-is-dead-at-62-obituary.html?_r=1&hp)
The world is a little dumber today with the passing of Chistopher Hitchens. This guy's brain was so sharp that even when he was dying of cancer (the last few years) or drunk off his ass (most of his life before that) he would (or should have) force you to rethink your position on just about any opinion you held.
I'll save my usual "Godspeed" wishes out of respect for his deeply reasoned atheism.

He wrote an article after being diagnosed with cancer and described how haters were telling him how it was karma for his being an atheist. He was unrepentant about it. Gotta respect the guy.

He was always one of the better guests on Mahers show.

God rest his soul.
God rest his soul.
He wouldn't want that.

I think that was the point.

Yeah, that font would be really helpful. I'll pray for one.

Dont know if god exists, but if he does and theres a heaven, I wonder what Hitchens' reaction would be

Was a great orator. Played his audiobook (last one)? and liked it. He put many panderers in their place you can see videos of it online.

Very saddened to hear it this morning. One of the great critical thinkers and brilliant authors of our time. Plus he was wickedly hilarious.

Wasn't that his last book? I liked it on audio. Already had words on him in random deader thread so ditto that.

This.
I saw a debate he had at the 92nd Street Y with a Christian and a Jewish theologian. While he absolutely destroyed the underpinnings of their arguments, he was respectful of the individuals. That was not always the case (see his obits of Ronald Reagan and Bob Hope) as he famously did not suffer fools gladly.
I would like to believe that he wakes up after shedding this mortal coil at the gates to heaven with God looking at him. Before Hitch can say anything, God pats him on the back and says "good job" as he ushers him in.

I always enjoyed his articles on Slate, even when I didn't agree with his main point.
