Got home about an hour ago from a Christmas party at my job. I've never been to a business formal party and it was a good time. Drank jameson, wine, and some vodka (awful mix I know but I feel fine), got a nice little bonus, and won a bread maker. I have a doctors appointment at 8 tomorrow to discuss my sleep problems and pain management. Just read that Christopher Hitchens died and was bummed out even though I can't recall ever reading anything he wrote, though I'm sure I had to have at some point.

Also just saw an Amber alert flashed on the TV twice and it made me icnredibly uncomfortable and I think it had more to do with the way an emergency announcement sounds and looks rather than the actual abduction.

I enjoy that this is a place for random thoughts that end abruptly. I think we could learn from this.

But for fuck's sake, they should realize by now that the brilliant fucking "Eisenhower insterstate system" dipshits decided to run I-10 right through downtown Mobile. And, "Oh, what's that? An old Spanish / French fort that use to guard the city? Oh, how precious. Let's divert the interstate into a fucking TUNNEL under the river so we don't disturb this landmark.".

So every goddamned afternoon it's a fucking nightmare. There are 3 ways to get across the river here. The I-10 tunnel (4 lane). The bankhead tunnel (2 shitty lanes). And the Africa-town bridge (4 lanes, but north of the city).

The regular commuters are bad enough. You throw in a fucking holiday or hurricane evacuation, and it becomes a parking lot. From 5 lanes down to 2 lanes all converging within the last mile or so, and all it takes is one of them to freak out in the tunnel and the whole thing is fucked for hours.

So, yeah, bitches, take your bonus checks and get the hell out of here so I can get my ass through this shit before it's full of Louisiana and Texas tagged vehicles with gun racks loaded at the ready.
