View Full Version : Movies You'll Never See

What movies are you purposely avoiding, that no matter how many people praise it, you'll never willingly watch it.
Maybe it's an entire genre, foreign films, films that came out before you were born, or maybe films starring an actor that you despise.

I pretty much watch anything, I'll watch musicals, silents, etc..., but off the top of my head these are films I will avoid:

Lord of the Rings trilogy - I can't get down with the fantasy movies. One of these won the Best Picure and if you keep up with the 'The Movie You Just Watched' thread, you'll know that I'm trying to see every Best Picture winner. Well, there's at least one I won't be seeing.

Salo - I've heard enough about this film to know it probably isn't for me. I don't need to see people playing in shit or whatever it is that goes on.
It's coming out on Blu-ray in a few weeks. I wonder how many people will buy it because they think it'll be as rare as the original DVD. I won't be one of them.

Cannibal Holocaust - Supposedly this film shows actual animal torture. No thanks.

Marley & Me - This film was spoiled the opening weekend, so knowing the dog dies is enough to keep me from wanting to see it. I can watch Schwarzenegger kill tons of people, but seeing a dog die on film is depressing as hell.

Pretty much any sequel after part 2. Sequels rarely live up to the originals, but when 3 or more are made, I've usually bailed by then.

Remakes. I will always seek out the original and then typically forget about seeing the remake.

Comic book movies. These things never live up to expectations. I never read comic books as a kid, but I did watch cartoons and live action TV shows based on comic book characters. As a kid I loved them. I can't get into them now. I've seen a few of the Batman's and they were enjoyable, but that's pretty much it.

Anything animated. To this day, I still have never seen a Pixar film. Just can't do it. There is one film that may sway me. Last night while watching 50 Documentaries to See Before You Die, making the top 10 was Waltz with Bashir. I had heard of that film, but never knew it was a documentary. The animation in that looked amazing.

I hate to be picky when it comes to films, but I just have no interest in seeing the above listed.

Im like you, I will watch almost any movie. I like all types but there are some movies that you have zero interest in for whatever reason.

I agree with you about Lord of the Rings. I have never watched them and no matter how many Awards they win or how praised they are I will never watch them.

I cant think of any other movies right now (Im sure I will later) but I can think of a TV show. I have heard so much about The Wire but I have absolutely no interest at all in that show.

Anything with the word Saw attached to it.

Anything with Jason, Freddy Kruger, or Michael Meyers.

Any remake that promises to be darker than the original except for Batman.

When it comes to movies I dont really limit myself. I LOVE popcorn movies but also appreciate true well acted movies too. Ive seen most of the genres people here refuse to see, including LOTR, Star Wars, slasher movies and comic book movies and love them all.

But there are 2 genres that I really have no interest in.

Chick Flicks. Ive tried 1 or 2 here and there, like Serendipity because I like John Cusack and Jeremy Piven, but for the most part I wont watch them. If my wife wants to see them I tell her to go with her friends. I just cant sit through them.

Dance movies. Shit like Drumline or Bring it on. Ill never watch any of that tripe. I cant understand how anyone over the age of 14 could sit through it.

Also, I havent seen Cannibal Holocaust since I was 7....I dont remember an animal torture scene. Can someone fill me in?

Brokeback Mountain. I ain't watching 2 guys on scene kissing. I don't care if you call it acting. Even though I'm a big Heath Ledger fan.

Sex in the City. How this show was ever turned into a movie with a sequel. Even though I'm a big Kristen Davis fan. How different is the movie from the show really.

I will never see Social Network because of pure sour grapes. Being a software developer myself, seeing this fool make billions off such a simple idea enrages me and makes me wish to do harm to my own failed brain.

Plus, not sure how true, but the mere hint that he fucks over some of his early developers/partners pisses the shit out of me. I hate that kind of disloyalty for greed/money.

I can't remember if it was Cannibal Holocaust or Cannibal Ferox, but one or both of them had jungle animals being hunted and butchered by jungle people. One had a big turtle get killed. I think people freak out because it's still moving while they're chopping it up, but I think they just don't understand how turtles and their stupid prehistoric nervous systems work.

I was going to post about how it's dumb to be closed-minded and stubborn, but I was afraid of hurting peoples feelings. I've turned over a new leaf, you see.

Actually, it's the whites that butcher the turtle (for food).

Turtles are ugly and I can tell you the one in the movie deserved every last inch of that de-shelling.

Ha. I want to see both these films, especially Salo.

I don't think I'd pay to see most big budget movies, unless it's something that catches my interest (the first Transformers did, and that movie is one of the worst movies I've ever seen). I'll watch whatever if it's on tv, though. The new Predator was on the other night and I watched it. It was an absolutely steaming pile of garbage and some of the worst acting I've ever seen in a movie, but it was so bad I couldn't stop watching.

There's really no point in watching any of the "Video Nasties" at this point. You have the internet -- what is Salo when you've seen 2G1C? Cannibal Holocaust is downright quaint when you can go on theync.com and watch people literally chop each other up with machetes.

You might be right. I tried to watch the most controversial films of all time and most of them were fucking boring.
