You all know me as the funny guy. The guy who you know you can count on for a laugh when you see that Simpsons avatar pop up. But that's just a facade. I've been really troubled lately, and after much deliberation, I've decided to tell all of you about it.
I first heard about Shadow People from my uncle who talked about this show he watched sometimes where people would go looking for them and make them angry so the Shadow People would attack them. That is still scary to me.
The mention of Shadow People reminded me of something my Mom always told me about this house we lived in when I was five, which makes it eleven years now. It was settled on the interstate, with a huge front driveway in the shape of a giant U and a gigantic pasture complete with pond and fencing behind it. Well, right behind the house, there was a shack. This shack was half the size of the house, gray looking, and the roof had caved in on itself a long time ago. There as no glass in the windows and I don't even think it had a front door.
Anyway, I remember the shack always scared me. Every time I'd look at it, it was like someone was watching me play, so I never played in the back yard (What was worse was it was situated just right so the shack looked like it was peeking around the house from where it sat). Mom told me that I came in one day (I don't remember much of my childhood because of some emotional trauma, but my memories are slowly coming back) all scared. When she asked me what was wrong, I answered that I heard some children laughing and playing in the shack, but I didn't want to go in there because I was too afraid of the shack (I was always afraid of things that didn't make sense, like ET the alien or children playing in a clearly broken down shack. I mean, those poor kids weren't supposed to be in there!).
Mom always said that the house felt oppressed and I agree. I had night terrors galore while we lived there. Mom told me that several nights she would wake up hearing these little kids running up and down the hall. My parents' room was at the very end, so if you stood in the doorway, you could see all the way down it. When she would get up to look, she would see children's shadows running away from her (I've never asked for a full description.). She would go to check on me, but I was sound asleep (on my good nights) or still in bed.
Mom and I believe that house was oppressed by evil spirits. She said that she knows those children laughing in the shack were really Satan trying to lure me in so I could get snake bite, or killed somehow. I can't remember what she said about the little children, though.
Since we moved out, I stopped having those same night terrors (they were all about the same things; ghost hands that lived in a foggy forest and skeletons that would savagely beat me), and that shack was torn down. I even think the owners got rid of the house or built a new one. I'm so thankful that its gone!
So, I thought I should write this just to get the word out about that horrible house on the interstate and the laughing shack. I don't know what caused the laughing children or the night terrors, or if their even related. Let me know what you think about all of it.
