Microsoft "Mango" smartphone.

I was at the Microsoft launch meeting this morning and, I gotta say, it really seems like they've addressed a lot of issues and annoyances of the smartphone concept. I love my iPhone but, as an actual PHONE.... it sucks. In fact... if it wasn't for iTunes, I probably wouldn't even be so in love with my iphone.
The features and usability of the new Microsoft phone really is a step in the right direction. It integrates apps, files, messages from all sources (text, email, facebook, all instant messages, etc) & the internet into one consolidated experience.

I'm not ready to jump ship just yet but, seeing it live was impressive. It certainly doesn't have the stink of failure that the Zune had.
It's a pretty seemless experience.

I'm curious to see how it fairs in the real world.

Not impressed at all. This phone is selling itself as doing everything and more yet so does most droid phones. Im a huge fan of the Zune, imo it is a far superior music device and software to the ipod. Not a big fan of apple products and I do like most windows products but to be honest the droid does everything you need and more. Everything they showed on this device is already available I cant see people switching to this now after already making their smartphone choice between iphone, androids and blackberry. I did however read that nokia (which has died in America but not Europe) will be switching from symbian to almost exclusively to windows based phones. Nokia expects windows 7 mobile to be the #1 in the mobile market by 2013 and windows expects by 2015. I do not believe this will happen but we will see!

It's especially bizarre given that neither iOS or Android is particularly hard to use; just tap on the icons for what you want to do. If you can't follow that, you're probably too big a dumbass to use Windows Phone 7 too.

yeah, but have you tried a windows phone? there is no app launching in the classic sense, cause it seems like everything is already open, there's literally no wait to "open" anything.

Yeah... that was the most appealing part aboot Mango, the apps don't open and close... they "dehydrate" and "rehydrate". They're always on and waiting to be accessed. And, they pick up wherever you left off.
