I had magic jack which was ok but many people said they heard echos sometimes especially if I was surfing the web while talking. Another drawback was having to always have my computer on and the program open/running. I want something that doesnt need a computer on all the time and net talk seems to plug into the router.
How was the call quality any echoing or feedback?
can you port a number?
is it reliable, does it always work?
what happens if you are on the computer surfing the web, does the call quality go down or not work as well like magic jack?
Can you use a fax machine?
Any help/info would be appreciated!

Yup - I have NetTalk Duo. I've had one for about 8-10 months.
It plugs right into my router, has never had an echo, or dropped, or been impeded by the use of a computer simultaneous to the call. It has always worked!
I don't know about porting or faxing, though. I do recommend it, for $60 a year I don't think it can be beat. Until I saw this thread I had forgotten I even had it - it really is so reliable that I think of myself as still being on a landline.

Isnt it like $30 a year after you buy it? I think it was like $69 to buy the device with the 1st year included and then $30 a year after that!
Does it have call waiting, voicemail, 3 way etc?
I really liked magicjack when it came out but this sounds so much better. Its like vonage without the expense?!

Yes - to the $30 a year. I thought it was $60 but i just checked and saw it was half that.
As for Call Waiting, Voicemail, 3-way calls, etc - yes, yes, and yes.

I set mine up through Google Voice so all my VMs go through there but apparently I could have just done that through NetTalk but didn't realize it. If you have a good, reliable connection this is a no-brainer.
