I remember reading not to long ago that the same people who got Bush to get the online gambling ban are now the same people that want to reverse it and allow it. What happened was Vegas casinos didnt want online gambling because they thought it would take away from their tourism and live in casino gambling. Like anything, people with money and friends in power can get anything passed. They got the ban passed as well as the ban on credit card use for such oversea charges. Fast forward 5-6 years and they realize 1, it didnt hurt their business. 2. it actually created more gamblers and 3. they cant stop it anyway so why not be the ones in business instead of losing it to others overseas. Now from what I heard they want to reverse the law and pass a new law that only allows current gambling establishments to be allowed to do this type of business. Basically they want the law to prevent mom and pops starting small sites that could grow and be a big boy. They want to be the ones that own the market.
I will look for the article or some information, hopefully I cant find these articles I have read in the past!

My take on this is that you should be able to do what you want with the money you make. If you see fit to gamble online so what.

the NJ house and Senate has already passed this bill in NJ and its on Christie's desk awaiting a signature.
Essentially the NJ bill would allow any casino in AC to allow online gambling run by them and only accessible to residents of NJ

damn, I was excited until I read the last part of your post (not a resident of NJ)...
I was a partypoker player before the crackdown and haven't went with one of the other sites because I don't trust them...

you should still be happy. Something like that being official would cause other states with casinos to probably do the same thing. And as snacks said, they are thinkin of passing it federally, i believe with the only restrictions being it be run by current US casino licensees and to only people in the US

That person you are referring to is Harry Reid. He is the one proposing the tie-in to Vegas casinos.
...and... well I can't be bothered. Suffice it to say you are making a conspiracy where one does not exist.
Read the Wall Street Journal article referenced in the thread and pull up some articles from around the time the ban was passed. I think you'll be enlightened.

Why dont you enlighten us. Harry Reid is not the only one who pushed for this ban. The ban also happened because of the credit card companies and became illegal to charge gambling sites. Bush passed that law at the same time as when he also forced new bankruptcy laws that made it harder for Americans while making more money for banks. Fast forward 5 or 6 years and those same banks who now had individuals by the balls with no help were able to file their own bankruptcy and get all the help they needed after they lost billions. But joe avg citizen has no help and no way out thanks to Bush. Im not creating any conspiracy. I still remember Bush had a press conference when he passed the gambling ban and the bankruptcy changes that only helped the rich fuck over people. How about these credit card companies work a little harder approving people and making sure people really can pay back money rather then just approving everyone for every amount because they know they will always get their money some way.

i understand what people do with their money is their business. i thought one of the problems that lead to the shutting down of these sites is players were being cheated by how the computer was being programmed? or no? i'm not one to read through all the articles but I thought I heard this on the tube
thanks
