I have no idea what happened on like 90% of this episode.
Loras likes pretty dresses and big weddings because loras is the gay.
What specifically was confusing? Most seemed pretty straightforward.

Why did the red headed witch take away the boy?
What happened between Varys and the other guy?

the only thing that doesn't make much sense to me is whats the deal with the Watchers of the Wall? A bunch of these dudes were killed, they're strewn about north of the wall I suppose, and it seemed like there were an ass load of winter zombies that I thought were right at the front gates of the wall, but haven't been seen since the beginning of this season. Just a bit confused as to where all these different moving pieces are currently located.

It's got to be retribution for something we've seen him do. I don't think they would drag out this storyline in the show and have the big reveal be something that was from the past, as in, before the show started. That being said, the most effed up thing that he's done was having those two kids killed so ppl would think he killed the Stark boys.

OK, this might be an admission that I'm paying a little too much attention to a TV show but I caught this on last night's episode and it pulled me out of the narrative for a second. I'll throw it up here for comment (and for mockery should any of you be unable to resist):
When the gay Tyrell kid (Loras?) was forced to chat up Sansa (again ?) Stark in that garden - whilst he was running through his favorite wedding fashion did he mention "French sleeves"?
I haven't read the books so my knowledge of Westeros is limited to what I've seen on the program, but counter to a lot of the awful things that go on there I thought it had the benefit of being Franceless.
Please advise.

Not if the soldiers he killed were actually provided by Theon's father. I'm thinking mystery man is a lord with some sort of influence. Influence enough to convince Theon's father that in retribution for the murder of his brothers (or sons) by Theon's hand, he gets to torture Theon with the help of men whose alligance lies with the King of the Ironborn. Yeah, looking up families it's really obvious which one theon is a prisoner of.
Kind of a spoiler, but I'm not gonna outright say who Theon's torturer is or which house is belongs to.
It's outright stated who went to Winterfell to take Theon last season, the horn in this episode was a callback to that. In addition, the image of Theon strapped to the torture device is this house's sigil, which was visible in another scene in this episode. And what the torturer is doing to Theon in this episode is a signature of his house. All the clues are there even if they are not overtly highlighted.

I gotta say, I think I'm done after this season.
To be honest, to me there are too many storylines and characters to follow and quite frankly the only thing that interested me when this show started seems to be something they don't care to delve into and make a full fledged storyline out of. That would be the White Walkers.
Being I never read the books, I went into this cold not knowing what it was about. Seeing the White Walkers in the very beginning got my attention and I thought would be a major storyline in this whole thing. Then you didn't see or hear a peep about them until the last episode of Season 2. That last 5 minutes of last season was the only thing that brought me back for Season 3 because I thought they were going to actually get into them. Silly me for being fooled a 2nd time. Now we're over half way through this season and once again no White Walkers.
Unless someone can tell me without a shadow of a doubt that they will be front and center soon, then unfortunately I'm out.

There are no real spoilers in this text, but some people may not want to know how prominant a role the white walkers play in the upcoming, so some tags.
If you're just waiting around for the White Walkers you should probably jump off now. They just arent in the books that much, although the threat of what a coming winter means is more real. The battle at the First of the First Men is actually a very white walkery affair and they chose not to show it in the show. There is one more major white walker moment coming up this season, and they actually have set it up so I do think you'll see it. In the long run the ultimate showdown seems to be headed to the north, but thats potentially 2 books away so god knows how many years. And they never stop introducing characters and stories, so if that frustrates you it just keeps going.

He killed Ros, the prostitute that Varys was using to spy on Littlefinger. I guess he wanted to feel what it was like to kill someone. (that scene didnt happen in the books)
Why was the red headed Stark girl crying?
Tyrion told her that she had to marry him and not Loras.
Why did the red headed witch take away the boy?
that scene didnt happen in the books. at least not yet, since i just started book 5 so i cant be 100% sure. iirc, melisandre slipped a hint about it. i know why she took him tho, which means there is gonna be a WHOLE lot of story cut out. when i saw it i yelled at the tv "are you fucking kidding me?!?! http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/13.gif"

Finally, the ONE fucking thing I've been waiting for for 2 seasons reappears. This better be a major part of the 3rd season storyline and not just 5 lame minutes every other episode, otherwise I am done. The rest of this show just isn't holding my attention, but if the White Walkers thing is back and will play a major part, then I may consider sticking around.
I think I'm done after this season.
Frankly there are too many characters that I can't even remember the names of and there are too many storylines going on at once. Plus, I'm finding I don't give a shit about any of these storylines.
They killed off two of the three best characters in the first season IMO and now the only things I care to see are Joffrey being brutally murdered, Daenerys getting naked again and the fucking White Walkers. Unless one of those three happen or are promised to happen shortly into season 3, then I think I'm out.

Theon didn't go out after them with the intention of killing them. He only killed the other two boys because he realized that he lost Bran and Rickon and the only way he could pass off the other two boys as them was to kill and burn them.

Well, Jaime fucked his twin cersei for years, killed the king he was sworn to protect (granted with good reason). Escaping, even killing the guard is understandable, but he killed his cousin who revered him, who was a fellow prisoner.

As gross as it is, I can't consider two consenting adults banging each other heinous, even if they are brother and sister. Passing the kids off as Robert's is a worse offense and that's mostly on Cersei.
The Mad King earned his name and would have gotten worse had Jaime not done what he did. Even in the last episode, when the guy asked him how many lives he saved, he said half a million, the population of King's Landing.

they were banging each other since they figured out jamie could get a boner. their mom caught them "playing" when they were children, as cercei put it and separated them. the mother never told tywin, but expressly forbade it from ever happening again. they still kept at it in secret, which made it "better" for them.

In this world incest is considered a great sin, and children of incest are considered abominations. That's why Craster is such an unsavory character.
Kingslaying and Kinslaying are two of the other major sins in Westeros, and Jaime has done both, plus plenty of people know about the incest.
As mad as Aerys was the Targareans were the only family to rule the unified Westeros and you get the sense in the books that 1- people didn't commonly know how bad he was and 2- everyone in power was sortof waiting for Aerys to die because his son Rhaegar, who Dany talks about and wants to name her son after, was considered one fo the greatest heros of Westeros and he was in line to be king. It isn't common knowledge that Jaime saved Kingslanding, I think most people would think of him as the key player that got rid of the old family line and prevented Rhaegar from becoming king, and helped establish the line of Barathean which has more or less fucked things up by bankrupting the kingdom right at the end of summer.

This may be a silly question, but I honestly don't recall any acknowledgement on this subject.

I dont remember if he vocally acknowledges it in the show but Cersei certainly knows, and I think you can assume that Jaime does too. She may make reference to how she avoids having sex with Robert. And certainly the children's features would make it obvious to the two of them.

I wasn't too pleased with this episode....If it had been earlier in the season, fine, but there were only three eps going into last nights and I was hoping for more blood and violence than T and A, and we really didn't get much of either. The wedding scenes were cool....The Walker scene at the end was cool, but pissed me off because apparently Samwell just decides to leave the most powerful arrowhead ever in the fucking snow without looking back. ugh....even someone that useless would know how to start a fire at this point. I like him and his story, but he frustrates me. No word from Jaimie and Brienne or Jon Snow and his chick, or even Prince Stark and his war efforts. I felt like this was an episode of side stories getting fleshed out and I wanted the bigger plots to evolve more at this point so close to the end of the season.

I dont think you're wrong that this episode had a focus on some of the smaller story lines, but if anything that lets you know they need to get stuff into place before they leave it all in a few episodes. So you probably had to see these lesser stories to make way for the big stories coming up.
I dont mind the side roads at all I just hate when they're all scattershot and dont have much substance.

Yea, maybe that's what it was....not much substance on how the smaller stories we saw in this episode relate to the overall archs of the season. I was assuming going in that since its late in the season we were going to get some awesome HOLY SH*T moments and we didn't get any of it. I would have been much happier with the episode if we had finally got the chance to see the Mother of Dragons release her Unsullied for an opening round battle or something.

In all honesty Im starting to think the storylines for this show just dont fit into an hour a week series. No Jamie, Littlefinger, Rob Stark, Jon Snow, the crippled kid and his group, the guy being tortured etc. and still an hour is filled up. 60 minutes a week isnt enough time to do the show justice.

Robert had a rebellion where as the current war is a war of succession. So Robert essentially didn't have a claim on the throne, he just sought to depose the Targaryons. I think in the first season they talk about the options of who to install on the throne after the rebellion was over, and Ned Stark had turned down his opportunity.

Just crazyness. Couldn't believe what I was watching, but maybe, just maybe, he actually survives? is there any chance of that? you don't really see him get dealt that final definitive blow aside from the knife in the gut. Not too optomistic about it, but I guess there's a chance since his head wasn't completely chopped off. What a great episode though, aside from more confusion about the entire Jon Snow storyline.
so, they climb the wall and start walking away from the wall so they could take Castle Black that's located at the wall? None of that makes sense to me...where the hell are they walking if the castle is at the bottom of the Wall? Then from just last nights episode ::minor spoilers:: Bran takes control of the wolf, but lets a giant eagle attack Jon? Where the hell did that eagle come from anyway? And why does Jon leave Egrid behind when it was clear she was ready to be on his side? His entire story line since he's teamed up with the Wildlings has been insanely confusing to me. someone help

The Wildings went over the wall as a raiding party. Also, if you wanted to infiltrate Castle Black with a covert group it would be dumb to walk along the wall where you were most likely to get spotted. All south of the wall is a track of land called 'The Gift' that people work, had towns etc. That's where the wildlings were raiding and approaching castle black from cover.
The eagle always follows Orin around like how the wolves always follow the starks. It's his primary warg animal, and Orin jumped into it and attached Jon. Bran wouldn't have known any of that way going on.
Jon probably left Ygritte to save her. He cant take her back to the Nights Watch, and if the Wildlings know her loyalties are with Jon they'd probably kill her. OR he's not sure if she would come with him and ran to save his own life, and couldn't wait for her.
Orell, not Orin.

I would enjoy reading the books, and I could probably start the first one now, but i don't want to read the books past the point where the show is currently. I don't want the books to ruin the show for me. Usually, the book is always better and there are things that are left out of the show for budget and timing reasons, so I don't want to read the books and expect certain story lines to be a part of a season and never get to see them because they were omitted. so myah.

My brother told me a story from work that pretty much sums it up. As soon as he walks in he's set upon by a girl who hasn't read the books and has been speculating about what the 'Red Wedding' is all season, she thought it was something good like Jon and Ygritte get married. While she's beside herself freaking out to him his other buddy who has read all the books just gives him the double thumbs up as he walks by.

I enjoyed a return to a lot of interpersonal scenes for the last episode. Tywin, Tyrion Tywin, Joffrey Tyrion, Sansa Shae, Varys Davos, Gendry and even the really brief ones with Clegane, Arya and Jaime, Cersei. Yara gets her good speech even though she looks like she needs to lay off the salt. Roose Bolton gets to be an icy bastard.
The two things that kindof bugged me were I think they really drew out the big reveal about who Theon's captor is and the nature of that relationship. I wish they had kept that to a few episodes so it wasn't so redundant. And I thought there should have been a more substantial Dany scene. That whole sequence at the end lacked a sense of tension. Maybe if they had moved the raid to this episode and showed her being pensive about how she would be received.

It should have been in fewer episodes, I mean. Maybe one scene early to show he's in a dungeon being tortured. One episode in the middle where he's let go and recaptured just to torment him, and then at the end where his family gets the package.

In a likely nod to the character’s probable expanded role next season, Prince Tommen Baratheon has been recast. Callum Wharry, who was last seen as Joffrey’s younger brother late in the second season, has reportedly been replaced with Dean-Charles Chapman. Chapman previously appeared in season three as the doomed squire Martyn Lannister. Chapman is somewhat older and quite a bit more experienced than Wharry, whose sole acting credits are as Tommen in the first two seasons, and this likely presages Tommen's rise to prominence in the wake of certain tragic events this coming season.

I dont know that this even means that The Mountain will have any lines or even take his helmet off, but it does probably mean they have scenes where he's not on a horse and need to look like he's 7ft tall.

Today is officially "Hate Joffrey from Game of Thrones" Day (http://io9.com/today-is-officially-hate-joffrey-from-game-of-thrones-d-1481864652)
I know, I know; any day is a good day to loathe the horrible blond bastard sitting on the Iron Throne, but HBO is making today (and tomorrow) special. They're organizing a "roast" of Joffrey across the official GoT Twitter (https://twitter.com/GameOfThrones), Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/GameOfThrones), and Instagram (http://instagram.com/hbo) pages, and inviting the whole world to talk shit about him.
All you have to do is use the hashtag "#roastjoffrey." Apparently, Game of Thrones' stars Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) and Hodor (Kristian Nairn) will also get on the action, and then HBO will post/tweet all the best burns that people submit. You have about 48 hours to figure out something on the level of Bronn's brutal assessment (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13CSWRyaAgA). Good luck.
so get on dem twitters and start hating on this sadistic, murderous, product of incest!

but seriously, yeah daario was smoking hot, but he was too pretty and not garishly dressed. the swords, however, were spot on. i was expecting the bright purple cone hair or turquiose colored beard like the way he is described in the books.

I grabbed Game of Thrones because I didn't have anything to read and this occurred to me:
So we know that Sam Tarly is sent to the Wall because his father wants his younger, more favored son to inherit Horn Hill.
What doesn't make sense is that Tarly could've sent his son Sam to study to be a maester or a septon, both of which would've caused him to give up his birth right. The maester's are expressly apolitical and must serve in whatever house they are assigned. And that would've been a good fit for the bookish/pacifist coward Sam.
I know the real answer is that you need to get Sam to the Wall to meet Jon Snow and that's how you do it, and it's more about illustrating what state the Nights Watch is in, but still it struck me when I read it the second time.
I guess Randal Tarly is just an asshole.

Yeah, already an improvement over some of last season's problems. They didn't jump around too much, they ended on a strong fight scene. They also arent making Sansa be all weepy for too long like how Caitlyn Stark was getting a little annoying being so melancholy for so much of last season.
We see how some of the characters are starting to change, which is cool.

I've seen I think 3 articles now that are varying degrees of outraged about Jaime forcing himself on Cersei in the sept.
And I'm curious too how they're going to handle Jaime now, who seemed to be softening or atleast becoming more sympathetic.
But I'm not more horrified by Jaime in last nights episode than before. I feel like these people are ignoring the other rapes and murders in the show that were much more violent and graphic. Jaime threw a kid out of a window and broke his cousin's neck. That's pretty bad too.

i seriously thought they were either going to be seen and that person was dead via Jaime's left hand, or the body was going to come down on them
thus far the only thing that seems to be missing is the one true Stark that is evil behind it all, bc we have the opposite with Dinklage's character and other less extreme examples. I don't count the exterior family members like the iron island kid or the deception at the red wedding. They were hardly fully vested in the family or as a top character. I guess we have a long way to go, but no spoilers.

I don't mind the lead in to show his carnal desires trump all as a prelude to the offer that comes he just can't refuse…it has its place in this one even if a bit laid on. As for the rest, it was an episode of many setups for the future episodes, and closing of a few from the last. They all can't be dead kings and red wedding scenes or it'd get anticlimactic based on countless climaxes…yah, that was on purpose tied to OHHHHberon.

But, I think if you have Oberon fucking around you could have this great scene where he's doing what he's doing and Tywin is talking to him, and you get that standoff between them. Oberon wont stop and is trying to shake Tywin, and Tywin wont flinch and does his great James Dance stoneface, dead eyed act.
