I have a virus on my laptop and it won't let me run my anti-virus/adware and won't let me do a system restore. I'm frustrated as all hell and don't know what to do.

If you have restore disks, get a cheap hard drive enclosure from Amazon (about $10). Put your drive in it, save the files you want to keep on another computer (scan them with the other computer's antivirus software before saving), format the drive, return the drive to your laptop, then reinstall your OS on the clean drive.

i think you start up in 'safe mode'
and then download 'malwarebytes'

but probably best to wait
for a real geek to appear

That can work sometimes, but most of the virus' won't even let you do that.

Yeah, this sounds like a really professional piece of malware that knows how to shut down any AV software.

Fortunately, viruses can't infect data files like documents, music files, tranny porn JPEG's, etc., so your data should be safe if you pull it off of there. Then nuke the system from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

What about tranny blogs?

It's not the antivirus monitor one is it? I just had that and it wasn't bad to get rid of.

How old is the hard drive/laptop. If it is more than 2 years old, I would just put the old hard drive in an external enclosure so you can access the tranny porn, and buy a new drive and install it.

Where do you go to even get viruses!? I don't exactly plumb the depths of the internet, but I get done what I need to get done.

I think the last time I got infected was in the Kazaa days.

You should always have more then one log in, most viruses aren't smart enough to be at the systems root and you can just log in. As someone else and run your antivirus.

That said try to log in in safe mode and create another account, then log in. And run your antiv.

I would try first to use task manager to stop what it shuts down first. While at same time try to run what would get rid of it.

Or put anti virus on a disc or stick and run it that way.

I found money and shelled it out and have the windows protection. Cleared it completely up and now I'm protected.

I have no idea where I went that I got this virus considering I don't go to any sites that have ever caused any problems. I don't use p2p stuff.

But it's gone so that's what matters. Now to go along my merry way. Feels stupidly good to just get on to my computer and have it start up without incident.

A Portable cleaner could have worked. Most of my desktop apps are Portables.
