I was 7. I just watched "American Bandstand" and told my Mom I wanted a Nehru jacket and a medallion.
I wanted to be Gary Puckett! LOL! Later, my air guitar hero was Tony Iommi from "Black Sabbath". I think I knew the chords from "Fairies Wear Boots". ;)

I remember getting my first bass and being in my friend Dave's basement taking turns playing "Deuce" over a tape of Alive! and doing all the Gene Simmons mannerisms...the tongue, the leg kick, and of course, the back-and-forth-swinging-your guitar-thing. Once I was old enough to start playing shows, I tried to reproduce Jeff Ament's <of Pearl Jam> energy, leaping off monitors and running around like a lunatic...

Those were the days...

It's not funny, my ass is on fire...

Although he's already been said, it's gotta be Keith Richards for me.

When I was about 11 or 12, my mom let me go see the movie "Let's Spend The Night Together". The 81 tour film of The Rolling Stones.

I've never been the same since.

Although there were no guitars, I always wanted to be one of Gladys Knight's Pips. Great voices, great dance steps and hand motions, cool clothes. The Pips WERE cool.

Eric Clapton( lots of air guitar, and just poorly played real-guitar )!...Now, I have also wanted to be one of Clapton's back-up singers as well. WOW, Heck...The Pips? That's what reminded me..all-time great back-up singers! What about The Spinners singing with Dionne Warwick, on "Then Came You"...love Motown, esp. for back-up singing....

I wanted moon walk like Michael Jackson

Back-spin like Turbo from Breakin' 2 Electric Boogaloo

I also wanted to be the human beat box ... like the guy from the Fat Boys

After that phase...I wanted to play the drums like Tommy Lee from Motley Crue

I know, I know....just point and laugh;)

That quote sickens me. They were always a "girlie band" back in the day. Not put on some Dio and crank it up! ;)

At first I want to be like Pete Townshend but when I saw Keith Moon and all the fun he had I switched to air drumming and have always been leaning that way since.

I stumble around the Irish Rivieria

I never really played air guitar.I was always the guy in charge of flicking the light switch on the wall real fast so it gave a strobe light effect.

p.s. True confession time.I did have a Nehru shirt and medallion. And proud of it!Looked great with my"Beatle Boots" from Thom McCann.

I would have to say I did the most air guitar to Eddie Van Halen and in particular to "hot for teacher."

Spreading nasal joy like I was johnny appleseed or maybe its because I keep hacking up grannie smiths.... chewy, gooey fun.

I played air guitar to the best, Jimmy Page. Led Zep had such great groupie stories. Also Marvin Gaye he was one smooth mother-f***er!

Keith Richards. I went into training for a number of years to prepare for my big moment. I was gonna stalk the guy down, somehow and challenge him to a 'drug off', during which I would earn the respect and admiration of my peers by doing the equivalent of drinking him under the table. I was in tip top physical shape, plus I figured I had the advantage of years on him. Sadly, I never got the chance.

I also wanted to be Iggy Pop, back in the day I thought he was the greatest singer/songwriter/performer of all time, an opinion I have had no reason to change.
