My personal favorite has to be Voltron, second would be transformers and third is Thunder Cats. But they are all good.

Transformers blows everyone else out of the water.

I'd put ThunderCats next, then Voltron.

G.I. Joe remains my fave 80s cartoon, though.

since Silverhawks and GI Joe are not options, i gotta go with Voltron. It was pretty damn cool when he would cut the ro-beasts in two with that damn blazing sword.

although they didn't show it much, the 52 cars voltron blew everyone away. there was also one that was 3 smaller robots

When you have characters like Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Starscream. You know its a classic.
Go-bots, the biggest rip-off of all time. Starscream can kick Leader One's ass all over the sky.

Voltron by far. Action alone isn't what makes a cartoon. Both the space based and Earth based Voltron ruled and the writing was great compared to "Now you know, and knowing is half the battle!" Passing ethical messages and lessons during/via cartoons, never cool! Fucking lame truthfully. All were great, but the story, different weapons of V and the lions and or cars as well as the great character development put Voltron in the top spot. That DVD series, was it just the first two or three episodes, or is it a collection/season of the series. Seriously interested in finding out and would go get it if it's not just one dvd! cya! Sven did rule, the true blue lion aura lives! How many times would the princess wimp it up and almost get them killed.

I agree that the most important cartoon left off here was GI Joe. As far as this goes though, I am taking Transformers first (pre-movie, cause after the movie came out, transformers jumped the shark). Voltron would be next...followed up by the Thundercats...
