View Full Version : "Rediscovering" old bands

Lately I've revived an interest in some of my fave "old" bands and "albums."
Lately I've been listening to The Replacements (Let it Be), Pretenders (I & II), Cheap Trick (Greatest Hits), Husker Du (Candy Apple Grey), and Sugar (Copper Blue).

Anyone else going thru a similar phase?

I always liked Sugar's "File Under Easy Listening" too. I just bought "Let it Be" on CD this week, but it was the Beatles version.

I've always loved the song "Two of Us".

After watching "Billy Elliot", I've been having a personal little T-Rex revival. "You're dirty and sweet, oh yeah." Rock 'n roll, man.

Alice, that's most of what I listen to. In fact, as I type this, I'm playing Patti Smith's "Horses" LP.
I have Blondie's "Eat To The Beat" on deck, along with Lou Reed's "Rock and Roll Animal".
Can't beat it.

I do this all the time! I'll "re-discover" a great old band and play them ad nauseum. Lately, it's been Adam and the Ants (surprise surprise) and old Bon Scott AC/DC. I periodically fall back in love with Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours", as well as several other classic albums. No matter how "overplayed" they may seem, I somehow find the magic in them all over again.

Every once in awhile, I listen to Alice Cooper "Killer" and "Billion Dollar Babies", Black Sabbath, "Master of Reality", and a band called Nectar, "Remember the Future", and Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon. Then think back about how I wasted so much time, being wasted listening to this stuff and I wouldn't change one thing about it.

I'm a product of the late 70's - early 80's. So it's "vintage" Van Halen, The Cars, The Police. Plus I hate to admit it, but anyone who was around in 1981 can't deny that REO Speedwagon's Hi-Infedelity was the biggest thing since sliced bread.

Cake or Death? Uh, I'll have the cake please.

I often switch moods and go to the Doors (The End, The Unknown Soldier) The Who (Quadrophenia, Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy) and a sort of esoteric band called Black 47

I stumble around the Irish Rivieria
