The high school thread got me thinking, in my experience nearly anyone you ask thinks the town they grew up in sucked. I know Wayne did and still does. What say the rest of you?

Lynbrook, NY was a good town to be a kid in. But it has no nightlife besides one or two pubs and a bunch of old-man bars.

Jersey City,

What can you say, it was home for us growing up but I wouldn't have wanted my kids to grow up in JC during my time... We had 3 men enter our apt with a gun and rob us, my brothers frien set a house on fire and killed 7 people, neighborhood kids threw a kid we knew in the river and he died, fight after fight after fight. And if you weren't fighting you were running from getting your ass beat...
On the other hand we played alot of sports, we had the best neighborhood team in tackle football. We played the blacks, the spanish guys(gang named Zodiacs) the Irish guys, 2nd st., uptown, marion, the heights, the lakewood bar, 8th st. We played basketball and baseball, wiffle ball, stick ball, almost everything but soccer and hockey...
We also got trashed a bit too much, started in the 7th or 8th grade, no matter what you wanted you can get it, either in JC or take a Path to Manhattan...
I don't know about today, it may have changed for the better. And i don't want to trash it cause FUZZYBUTT lives there, so it's got some good points but once you move away for awhile, i think you lose that desire to go back...

Bethpage was a good place to be from birth to about 16. then I realized that there was no nightlife and really nothing for a young person to do.
good place to grow up.
