On Friday I saw Phantom of the Opera. Although I've seen Blue Man and several other off OFF Broadway shows, I'd never been to a Broadway musical. I thought the sets were great and the story really good, but I have to admit-- I think Andrew Lloyd Webber is just, well, SUPER CHEESY!!!
Anyone have any opinions on the Great White Way?

Cabaret rocks. I saw it with Lea Thompson (you know what I mean). She's a great singer, and the story wasn't what I had expected.

Being a straight male, I haven't gone to too many shows. I think the last time I went was when I was a kid and my Mom forced me to go see Shenendoah with the family. I was bored to tears.

I live about a half mile from the great white way and my wife drags me there every so often. Most of the time, these show just plain suck. I'm just not one for the singing dancing and prancing.
However, 2 shows did it for me in the past couple of years:
Death of a Saleman
- it had both Kevin Spacey AND Tony Danza!!!
Urinetown
-stupid title, incredibly funny and original musical

I've been to a few Broadway shows... they're a good time.
I saw Starlight Express which was all on rollerskates.. that was kinda cool.
I saw the Dinner Party with John Ritter and Henry Winkler.. Winkler was amazing.
Good Times.. Broadway rules.

If anyone is interested, Nathan Lane and John Goodman are performing Waiting For Godot starting next month. Discounted tickets are on sale for the April shows. (http://www.broadwaybox.com/shows/waiting_for_godot_nyc_tickets.aspx#AboutShow)
I've always wanted to see this live.

Actually, it seems that these days people would actually cry about that.

There is something about Broadway, or singing throughout a movie, that just makes me want to vomit on the floor. I don't know why but it's awful. I can't even watch those Simpson's episodes where they sing the entire monologue.

I go to them all the time. This Sunday I'm seeing TOXIC AVENGER THE MUSICAL off-broadway since I saw it in Jersey and it was awesome.
I saw Hair this past Sunday because I won free tickets, I walked out after the first act because it was so goddamn awful. I saw Exit the King on Friday with Susan Sarandon, Geoffrey Rush, and Lauren Ambrose and it was pretty good, I also got to meet Susan Sarandon after the show.
I really want to see God of Carnage with James Gandolfini, Hope Davis, Marcia Gay Harden, and Jeff Daniels but they aren't offering student rush just yet. As soon as they do I'm grabbing them shits.
Oh and I ordered my ticket for Waiting for Godot a couple of weeks ago.

Would anybody know of a site where I can get tickets for West Side Story? I googled a couple of sites and there are asking $200.00 a ticket. My husband really wants to see it. I've seen the movie over 40 times. We need to get out. He's been laid off for over 3 months. He wants to get back to the city again. Last show we saw was A Bronx Tale. Friggin fabulous. Nothing like NYC! Thanks in advance.
