I am so psyched to see this movie...the trailer looks amazing. I am a huge fan of Anne Rice's and if this movie is done as well as Interview With a Vampire then I will be happy. To anyone who has not read this book, I highly recommend it. Queen of the Damned is one of her best.

Story:

His thirst for life enchanted her.

His thirst for fame awoke her.

His thirst for power may kill us all.

Legendary Vampire Lestat (STUART TOWNSEND) has risen from a decades-long slumber, determined to step out into the light. No longer content with being banished to the shadows, moving among mortals who never truly see him for what he is, Lestat has reinvented himself as the closest thing to a god on Earth: a rock star.

The intoxicating lure of his music has snaked its way around the globe, ultimately finding the ear of the slumbering ancient Queen Akasha (AALIYAH) in her crypt beneath the Arctic ice. Mother of all Vampires, Akasha has been resting for centuries, waiting for the right time to rise again and seize dominion over the world. Lestat¡s music is the revelation she has been waiting for, and she desires that he rule beside her.

But can Akasha be stopped? Her malevolent power may be too great for even the most ancient of the immortal Vampires to combat - she created them, and their survival depends on her own.

After all, Akasha is used to getting everything she wants... and all she wants is Hell on Earth.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in Association with Village Roadshow Pictures and NPV Entertainment, a Material Production, Queen of the Damned starring STUART TOWNSEND, AALIYAH and MARGUERITE MOREAU, with VINCENT PEREZ and LENA OLIN. Directed by MICHAEL RYMER, the film is produced by JORGE SARALEGUI; the screenplay is by SCOTT ABBOTT and MICHAEL PETRONI, based on The Vampire Chronicles by ANNE RICE; the Executive Producers are SU ARMSTRONG, ANDREW MASON, BILL GERBER and BRUCE BERMAN; the Director of Photography is IAN BAKER; the Production Designer is GRAHAM "GRACE" WALKER; the Editor is DANY COOPER; with music by RICHARD GIBBS and JONATHAN DAVIS.

I don't know. I saw the extended trailer, and it doesn't look that great to me. Plus I've heard that they've smushed "The Vampire Lestat" and "Queen of the Damned" together, so I don't know if the story will hold up.

Aaliyah is damn hot, though. I may have to see it cause it's her last movie.

I saw the trailer and read reviews and everything pretty much says "this movie blows." I have no intention or want to see this film. I thought Interview was great because it was done intelligently as an adult movie, this seems to be done primarily for Lowest common denomenator flick- no offense.

I think they had to use some stuff from The Vampire Lestat or else parts of the Queen of the Damned wouldn't make much sense. Since there are so many books on the whole Vampire Chronicles it is a tough task. Interview with the Vampire didn't use a lot of the other references and I would imagine that people who did not read the entire series may have been a little lost. Although they did do a pretty good job considering.

In no way does Queen of the Damned look like it will live up to or suceed Interview but it still looks really good to me. No offense taken IkeaBoy, I didn't like most of the movies you do anyway :p

Im first one on line to see this movie. A stagr craft teacher in my school worked behind the scenes and was telling us alot about it- it sounds amazing and the trailor was great.

Did anyone know, Anne Rice is not her real name.. she changed her name because her parents named her after one of their fathers and she didnt like going through life being teased so she changed her name when she started writing. Useles knowledge.

Until Ivy's post here I really didnt know too much about this movie except seeing all the posters for it. The real question is not whether or not the movie will be good. But whether Aaliyah will be the next Tu Pac and put out movies long after she is dead...

I think this might be the last of Aaliyah as the only other movie she was working on was the Matrix sequels and with her dead befor ethey finished filming they had to recast her role with JAda Pinkett SMith I believe. As for me, my 2002 vamp movie is Blade 2.

I'm with Ikea on this one. I was a fan of her first several books (before they all just turned into glorified porn) and I just don't see this movie being any good. It was just rushed together because they were losing the rights to make the movies, so they pushed the two books together and shot them. To top it off, all the reviews say it blows goats, so I'll just save my money for something else.
