Available to "watch instantly" on Netflix is the Starz series SPARTACUS: BLOOD AND SAND.
It takes the look and style of The 300 and infuses it with deeper stories, deeper character development... and infinitely more blood, gore, sex, and glory.
Season one has just ended.

That sucks.
He really was a good actor. I know the show wasn't the biggest hit in the world but... he was amazing in it. I don't think there's a single review for that show that didn't single out Whitfield as a soulful actor with a lot of heart and charisma. He was definitely on the verge of stardom.

This season has been great so far. It's missing a lot of the humor of the last two - mostly because Batiatus and Varro are dead - but everything else is working.

My wife and I decided to watch this series on demand straight thru over the last couple of weeks, holy shit does it go from hot to blood bath in a second flat. Every time I start thinking about hitting pause because the orgy scene is turning me on, somebody gets their head cut off or a knife gets rammed thru their mouth, ruins the mood. In an episode we watched tonight a guys face was cut off and as he fell forward his brain fell out.
The new guy delivers his lines a bit Shakespearean and less soulful than the original, but he looks enough like the first guy to not take me out of it completely. It doesn't suck.
