If theres already a thread for this, I couldnt find it. Anyway here are some of the updates.
I dig that they are going to have web shooters this time, but from what these pictures show, I think the costume looks awful. They really are basically doing an Ultimate Spider-Man movie and I think ALOT of people are not going to be happy with it.
Ive been a huge Spidey fan since the early 80s and I am a fan of the original story. Im giving this the benefit of the doubt but if they are just planning on trampling the original story in order to make something different I will not be happy.
Im praying this Spider-Man doesnt sparkle in the sunlight...

Why would you just want "the original story???" You can just read the comic book...do something different!!!!
Ugh, Andrew Garfield is too good an actor for this garbage!!!
And the costume looks awful??? It looks like the comic!!! Comic outfits look ridiculous in real life!!!

Impressive backflip onto the moving car by the stunt double.
This movie is going to be, more or less, Spider-Man, The High School years. Dealing with how Peter Parker first adjusted to being a super hero when he was in high school. The first Toby McGwire movie he went from HS to college in about 15 minutes. This movie deals with that between time. I don't think they will screw up the storyline (I hope not) because the first three were pretty damn good. They satisfied the old school comic collectors like myself but made the story easy to follow for the non-collector movie goers.

I dont want the same story as the comic book, I just want them to stay true to the material. Something they strayed from in the original trilogy and just completely forgot about in the 3rd movie, which is why it sucked so badly. I couldve written a better story then that piece of shit.
The best thing I can say about the first movie is they nailed the costume. This is not that costume. I dont know if they changed it to try and show the movie is a reboot or what, but its not the same, I cant put my finger on it, it looks like the got rid of the webs on it, but it doesnt look nearly as good as the one Toby McGuire had.
And why the fuck does Gwen Stacy look like shes got Downs Syndrome????

Then part 3???? Just for shits and giggles how about this for a different way to introduce the ooze that becomes the black suit...
Instead of Peter and MJ sitting in a web in the park and a random meteor lands near them without sound and attaches itself to his bike, we do this...
John Jameson is an astronaut right? How about you see Parker in the Bugle in JJJs office, where hes crowing about this rock his son brought him back from the moon. Its on a display stand on the corner of his desk. While hes screaming at Peter for something you see the back of the rock crack, and a black ooze pour out and cling to the underside of his desk. While they are talking it crawls down and attches itself to the bottom of Peters backpack just as hes getting ready to leave.
Right there thats a better way, and makes alot more sense to introduce it then the way they did in the film. And I came up with that off the top of my head in 5 minutes.

In the book John Jameson throws a football on the moon. He actually comes back with a moon rock that gets attached to his chest and turns him into a werewolf. So having him come back with a moon rock and give it to his father would stay true enough to the actual story.
Reality? Really? This is the story of a guy that gets bit by a Spider and all of a sudden gets superhuman strength and speed and can climb walls. Having an astronaut bring back a rock from the moon and give it to his father isnt exactly stretching the bounds of reality in that universe.

I love how you spell out the "original story" like it DOESN'T sound like insane gibberish!!! Why would you WANT these movies to have anything along the lines of a moon rock-powered werewolf?????
Really??? Really??? You don't think any of that doesn't sound retarded to anyone over the age of 4????? Of course ANYTHING else is going to sound reasonable instead of that garbage!!!
And you gripe about nobody wanting to "stretch the bounds of the universe" without explaining how the fuck an astronaut would steal a fucking moon rock, yet then you cry when the costume looks a little different or because he doesn't have his super special "Web shooters!!!" Stretch the bounds of the universe, maaaaaaaaaannnn!!!

Did you even read what I wrote? Or do you just keep putting words in my mouth to try and make whatever dumb point youre trying to make?
I never said I want the original story. I said I wanted them to stay as true as they could to the original material. That means you dont just make shit up that has nothing to do with the comic books. I dont mind change if it makes sense. I didnt care they made the webshooters organic in the first ones. Because it made sense why.
Having an astronaut bring back a moon rock is alot better origin then saying "This thing fell from the sky".
In Marvel comics after like 600 plus episodes they didnt know what else to do with Spider-Man, so they came up with a new comic, Ultimate Spider-Man, where they started over. Thats where they are going with this movie, it looks like and I have a feeling alot of people arent going to like it because its alot different then what they grew up on.
Theres plenty of goofy shit to go in the Spider-Man comics since the 60's. But lets not act like it was a comic book for 4 year olds. If thats what you think you obviously never fucking read them.
For the record I liked the 1st movie, LOVED the 2nd one but thought the 3rd one was complete shit. I really dont know how anyone couldve thought that was good. Ecven for a comic book movie I thought it was trash.
Barnaby Jones
02-01-2011, 12:28 PM
But looking at Wikipedia, this Ultimate Spider-Man came out over a decade ago and has been basically their best ongoing title since then!!! It would make more sense to appeal to people who grew up on that or were big fans of that than people who are still hung up on stories from decades ago!!!
And man, an astronaut giving his pops a moon rock is just goofy!!! You might as well write in there that Spider's best friend just happens to be the President, it's THAT crazy and improbable, even by comic book standards!!! Dude can bring that shit back, but it's going to be busting out of NASA quarantine!!!

TS....as an avid fan myself you have to allow the script writers to make some creative changes. It's not enough to write a story strictly based on the comic, there's not enough fan base to make money off of that. You need to make it a little more generic so the average never-collected-comic movie goer could also enjoy the movie as well. It's a tough balancing act.
Was the X-Men movie even remotely CLOSE to the comic book? Not so much, but it was pretty damn good for both kinds of viewers.
So calm the hell down man, unless you hit the lottery for 500,000,000 and can fund your own movie to make you will never see a huge Hollywood production that follows the comic book EXACTLY as it was written.

I am calm. I said in the first post Im giving the movie a chance no matter what. And when it comes to comic movies Im usually more optimistic then anything, its just what Ive seen so far from this movie doesnt make me optimistic that I will like it. Im sure it doesnt matter if they have Spider-Man vs. Abe Lincoln it would still make 300 mill. Its a Spider-Man movie, commercial success is guaranteed.
And I know there is no comic book movie that can be made strictly from the comic story, I get that. But there are good ways to deviate (The Dr. Octopus storyline, the organic webbing, Peter Parkers sidejobs) and deviating that is just terrible and makes the movie confusing and just awful (Intro to the Venom goo, The new Green Goblin suit, the emo Peter Parker, the hour long Staying Alive montage)
The reason Im still optimistic is unlike alot of comic heroes Spider-man has enough good story arcs and cool enemies to make alot of good movies. If they are willing to take their time and not just throw more characters at every movie. In my head, Im HOPING that the first series was akin to Burtons Batman series and this next series is more like Nolans. Im sure we will see soon enough.

Normally I would look at these poses and just be , but that is kind of Spideys fighting style, sticking to the side of a car like hes standing normally.
My problem is still with the costume. If its like this because they are planning to CGI on it and make it look.....more Spider-Man like....then great. Otherwise its fucking terrible.

Someone went through all of the various trailers, sneak peeks and other footage that was released for this movie and put them all in order in one video. It turns out that there was 25 minutes of footage released from the film that runs 136 minutes. So, about 18% of the movie is available for you to see.
Apparently, Sony is trying to get this video taken down from every site (when they're the ones who released all of the fucking footage to begin with). So, see it while you can. Or, don't. I don't give a fuck either way. So what? You want to fucking fight about it? Just remember, my only weakness is small knives.

Well, by releasing three more clips with about three additional minutes that weren't included in the original 25 released. Makes sense. Spidey Sense!
