The trailer doesn't do it justice, it's actually not a bad comedy. I laughed more than I would have expected to. The full theater might have contributed, but I really enjoyed myself nevertheless.
Opens in about 2 weeks now.

It looks like one of those comedies that will probably be stupid yet very funny! I look forward to seeing it. I would see it because Ann Heche as a redhead and then that black guy had me laughing through out the preview!

Self-referential Wire references??? I'm sold!
Also, the Cedar Rapids airport is the finest airport experience I've ever had.
That wire line was sweet. All I can think when I see that guy is Clay Davis and just waiting for him to do his shiiiiiiiiite.

I think one of my single favorite Wire moments might be Clay Davis playing the race card like a virtuoso as he shreds the prosecution's case with total bullshit in his trial in the 5th season.

Yeah that was a summation of the film, but you would get the same from any synopsis. You go to a comedy for the jokes, not the plot anyway.

I was at the director's Q&A, and he said that the Wire references were in the script before they cast this guy, and they were worried that it would be a bit too meta for a Wire actor to be doing Wire jokes, but they decided to keep it.

So, :23 seconds into the preview and the voice over says, "But that was before, Cedar Rapids."
And it shows a shot of Philadelphia.

Ha ha, if you pause it you can see Cedar Rapids famous statue of William fucking Penn. It's not like Philly is a totally generic skyline.
Further confusing matters, the film was neither shot in Iowa or Pennsylvania.
The failure of an Iowa film production tax credit reportedly is the reason that the film was shot on location in Ann Arbor, Michigan, rather than in Cedar Rapids itself.[3] Michigan provides a 42% tax rebate to movies filmed in specified "core communities" in the state (such as Ann Arbor).[3]

Yeah, they were getting ready to shoot in Cedar Rapids, but at the last minute some bureaucrat fucked up, so they had to film in Michigan. Or at least that was what my mind remembers from the Q&A.
In his defense, the director was Puerto Rican, all US cities look the same to him - not enough headless chickens running around in the streets.
