safe Torrenting

So I got a phone call from my ISP letting me know they had recieved a complaint from Fox about me DL'ing "The Black Swan" from a torrent site. Obviously they (fox) only followed my IP to the provider and the provider called me to warn me to knock it off. My question is, other than becoming a law abiding non-torrenting citizen, what program can I steal then run to protect myself from such intrusions?

I only DL from 2 places, Demonoid is supposed to be fairly secure, but sometimes I use Piratebay which seems a bit like an unsupervised anything goes kind of place, I honestly can't remember where I got the Black Swan, probably piratesbay based on the outcome.

It looks like a free proxy service. IF you can figure out how to configure your torrent program to make it work, expect to have ridiculously slow speeds.

If there was a good, easy, and free method of downloading shit safely, everyone would be using it.

If you don't mind paying a little for the privilage of getting a lot of shit gratis, and are moderately adept at computers, go with usenet.

Demonoid is the private tracker I've seen people get sent emails on.

Demonoid isn't a private tracker,it's a semi private site that uses it's own tracker plus it stacks external trackers on top of that. Meaning if you download something from Demonoid you are leeching off of the public trackers they use to seed the torrent. Peer Block isn't 100% safe.


Find a real private tracker, usually most of them are strict ratio wise but in the end it's worth it because they have everything. I can think of a bunch of good private trackers but I won't name them because I'm not going to blow up their spot.

If you don't want to use torrents use Usenet everything you are looking to download comes from scene groups that release stuff on usenet first before it trickles down to other forms of file sharing.

easy pay for usenet access (ISP companies used to give you free access but they stopped) It's not expensive at all there are a bunch of providers that give you a good deal. Then use a program to read headers I use Grabbit. Download .nzb files from here (http://nzbmatrix.com/) or somewhere else and open it with grabit and it will download all the rar files and put them together, unrar them and give you what you want. You can also search groups and download manually.

It's very easy to use you just need to figure it out.

I have a demonoid account but i rarely use it. I'm making a prediction right now that these sites will take over torrents eventually. How bout giving it a shot instead of bashing right away? Go to the site and the show,cd,movie whatever you want to d/l. click the link and pick a download site. Megaupload and fileserve are the fastest.

I do use those services when I can find nothing else. That's how I know they fucking blow. Unless you buy a membership to the host (and what if the file you want is on a different host? Another membership?), you get shit speeds, initial waiting periods, hourly waiting periods, captcha...not to mention the fucking malware slums you have to wade through to find the links you want.
