I've been listening to the show since late 2007 so i'm not familiar with the show before except for a few clips here and there. What is the considered to be the best era of the show? I guess right now it would be the constant fez crying era, and before that the eastside dave years, The DC years, etc with mini ones in between.
Because the show is on holiday i've been listening to random shows from different years. So, which is everyone's favorite?

Yah bc I LOVE Halladay's era last year, but how can you argue Mariano's lifetime era of 2.23 in the modern era!

I'd say my favorite era was WNEW around the years of like 2002 and 2003. Lots of events, lots of good fans, lots of good calls. It was a great time.

the best shows were at WNEW with Al Dukes, Billy Staples, Joe Poo, the Hawk (2001-2002)
(Rory Hamptons was there at that time too, but his best contributions were off air, in more ways than one)

This is a complicated issue. I think it all boils down to when you first listened to the show live, when you first discovered them. I most remember the JFK era, because that's when I heard them first. After I discovered them, I absolutely LOVED listening to the NEW shows on replays and with downloads. But I still had more fun listening to the live JFK shows.
The XM era (though it has it's ups and downs) has been great, but that's when I had to switch to using XM2Go, since the show aired in the afternoon, and I'm only able to listen at night. I've heard some of the Florida stuff, but I only like bits and pieces of it. I think this may be because, at that period of time, I was in the same drug induced/party life stupor that the show was in at the time. Listening to it now, just doesn't do it for me.
I guess what I'm saying is, if you are talking about listening to old shows as they happened (as apposed to replays or downloads), there really isn't a favorite "era" for me. All era's have some golden moments.
I really miss listening live!

I've only listened since they started XM, but its easily the Dave era. The show wasn't as good before him, and its certainly not as good after him.

For personal reasons I loved the DC years because I was able to go the the station and hang with the boys during and after the shows. I met some great people at the station at the live events.
As for the shows i would have to say the WNEW shows were the best "tasteless Ginny, joe poo, billy staples" the callers were better and the shows were really funny.

The summer of 2001 before 9/11...the show was amazing...greatest callers ever.
Ron has said the show was better than because the CALLERS were better.
I'd like to beat you to death with WNEW callers

I introduced a guy i work with to the show today--luckily it was only the first hour. Although we had some laughs I had to tell him, "man, you should have heard how amazing this show was when they first started on WNEW around 2001".
And I still listen--but know that the show will never be the same (or as good) again. It's sad.

WNEW days were the best. So many great memories. Remember a time when we could chill with everyone from the show at least once a week at bar 9? Damn the good old days, the NEW green room, things il never forget, besides the parts I blacked out for.

Of course, I loved the NEW era.
"this is not a bit!!"
&
"Staples! NOW!!"
Good times indeed.
That was also a great time for comedy pyramids, sound drops, best unsigned band contests, fight nights, and on & on. The show was much more energetic in general.
I also liked that brief two-shifts-per-day period. The boyz were exhausted and punchy. A+

I agree with Moe and dude; I got turned on way back during RonandFez.com, at the start of the NEW run. but that didn't really hit its stride until it was joe poo, dukes, staples and hawk. that said, i really would have loved to have caught them in florida with ron diaz: the run in with don johnson and the paul-o stuff. bet that was cool.
