Our server only allows a maximum of 4kb per e-mail; sucks a lot when I need to send manuscript or proof pages electronically to my authors. My company has an FTP site. I have no problem using it for our vendors; they know where to pick up the files. My authors and freelancers don't have the same luck.
I did sign up for the free trial but it expired. I was only hired to be here until the end of February 2011. I want to buy the $69.99 package just to make my life (and my authors'/freelancers' lives) easier.
Is it a reliable service? And, more importantly, can I write it off as a job expense on my taxes? I'm not an employee of this company. I'm paid through a temp agency.
Please let me know if there are better sites for transferring files.

I recommend Mediafire (http://www.mediafire.com/tour.php) whenever I can.
Are you sending exceptionally large files, or need them to be stored forever? If not, then why pay for it?

Your company IT guys should provide facility for you to to do your business/transfer your work to clients even if you are a contractor (so am I). You might want to run this by your sponsor or whoever hired you. If you have to pay for it then it is a business expense and most likely deductible.
4 Mb per email is also a bit small these days but that is the rule and so be it.
If not, Filezilla (http://file-zilla.com/download-filezilla/?gclid=CLG2yanKkKYCFcqC5Qod42PSow) is very easy/free FTP client and easy to understand. It's another option at least.

Check out DropBox (https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTQyOTAyOTY5?src=global0)
You get 2GB for free
50GB $9.99 a month or $99.00 a year
100GB $19.99 a month or $199.000 a year
It's very easy to use just place what you want to share in your dropbox (https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTQyOTAyOTY5?src=global0) folder, then it syncs with drobox's (https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTQyOTAyOTY5?src=global0) servers quickly and lets you create a direct download link. The people who get the links don't have to worry about putting in CAPTCHA codes or having to wait to download files like other direct download link sites.
I would check out dropbox (https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTQyOTAyOTY5?src=global0) first, Lots of people use it.

I use this kind of think to get apps from one pc to the other. But the site I use keeps going down. Will have to check some of these out. Or stop being so lazy and fire up the ext. HD.
