Yeah, that's right, I said it.

Santa brought my seven year old daughter a karaoke machine. No, really, it's for her!

Anyhoo, the cd's that came with it are pretty lame. She wants to sing to Justin Bieber and of course they have "Oh Susannah".

The paperwork that came with it is pretty wanting, but they say if you burn CDG files to a CD/R disc, you're good to go. I found a source for CDG files, downloaded them to a CD, popped it in and...nothing happens.

To further confuse the issue, I double clicked the CDG file on my Mac, and VLC came up and showed the video part of he karaoke experience -you know, the words being highlighted when you need to sing them - but no audio. So I don't know how a CDG file helps.

Anybody know anything about this? Because of the stigma that accompanies karaoke-knowledge, all responses will be kept strictly confidential. :devil2:

Thanks buddays.

Why can't karaoke singers come up with their own songs?

I think karaoke discs are supposed to be structured more like CDs, but with the graphics track embedded in there. You would need a special app to make it compatible with a standalone player.

You're right...at least I think you are. Anybody know of any good apps that can get me where I need to be? For a Mac?

I know it's a lot to ask. But I need to sing Katy Perry!!

...I mean my daughter does.
